Highlights of 2014 - Onto 2015!

Hey guys! How was your Christmas? Did you eat lots of yummy food?
Mine was okay - I don't know why but it didn't really feel like Christmas this year. I guess that because I've been working in retail so much that I started getting bored of listening to non-stop Christmas songs… But I didn't want my mood to affect anyone else, so I had as much fun as I possibly could!

My main focus is on the new year now that Christmas has past and I'm feeling really excited! I can't wait for the fresh start and for new beginnings! Over the past week I have been reflecting on what I've done this year, and overall it has been a very good year for me. I've started feeling more comfortable with where I am with gyaru and I really hope that I could continue improving (especially in my hair skills which are near non-existent OTL).

So what are the highlights of 2014?

I improved in Agejo

Well, in the outfit side of things anyway. Over the past year I started thinking not just about the clothes but about the accessories as a whole; the jewellery, the nails... I made sure I had a bag and coat that matched everything that I wore, and I also bought my first pair of MA*RS socks! (My phone case also got cuter tehehehe~) I really want to improve even more and maybe ween off MA*RS and try out local brands!

Oh Deer ~ Christmas Day Out with Pixie!

Hey everyone! How's your week been?
I find myself writing this post really last minute (again). I've been so busy going to Christmas work-dos that I haven't had time to do anything! Never in my life have I been out so much in one week, so I'm feeling a bit worn out ^^"

The Christmas spirit has finally caught up with me and I'm getting really excited! I started on my nails yesterday and I just can't wait to get them finished. I'll post a pic on my Instagram or FB page when I'm done ♡(.◜ω◝.)♡

I went to see my bby Pixie yesterday and I managed to put together a somewhat "Christmassy" outfit. I got these reindeer slippers as I secret santa present and oh my gosh I love them. If only they were shoes...
At that moment of me taking photos it got really bright in my room so sorry for the crap photos ꒰੭ ❛⃘⌢❜⃘⃘ಃ ꒱໊

Christmas Nail Inspiration

I don't know about you but I haven't been feeling really Christmas-y this year... That is until I had a look at some Christmas nails online! Ever since I made my Halloween nails I realised that it was best to think of gathering nail supplies early so that I didn't end up stressing the night before. I really want to make Christmas a big thing this year (because I don't really celebrate it a lot) and just writing this post is getting me really excited!

Well, that's what I was hoping for, but it looks like that this post has been a bit delayed seeing as Christmas is in less than two weeks. Whoops!

Aherm, so onto the inspirational photos! Please note that these will be a mixture of gyaru nails and other nail art!

JEWEL's First Gyaru Meet!

Hey everyone! How have you been this week? Done anything exciting?
Last weekend we had our first JEWEL gyaru meet! ꒰ෆ❛ั ु▿❛ั ु꒱ JEWEL【ジュエル】is a UK gyaru unit, and so it was very exciting for us! It was formed by me and my friends Chewiee, Emmie, Marie, Emilie & Kei as we want to revive the gal community in the UK and spread the word! It's still in its initial stages, but we have big plans for it. Fingers crossed that it goes smoothly!

I wasn't feeling very well this day, but seeing everyone made me really happy (♡ॢ˃̶̤̀◡˂̶̤́♡ॢ) I went for a more casual agejo look this time~ I really wanted to do hime but I've realised that I don't have anything good for winter! ;_; maybe it's a good excuse to buy some more...? Tehehehe.

Yesstyle's OOTD: Ghost of Harlem

ghost of harlem, rokku gyaru, yesstyle review

I wore rokku gyaru the other day as it had been a while since I've done it, and I just had to wear this Ghost of Harlem dress from Yesstyle. I'm so happy that they sell brands on their website, especially as it's quite hard to get Japanese brand online without having to pay an extortionate amount. This is actually my first rokku-branded item (can you believe it?) and I kind of want to buy more now... But I've got to think about my bank. One day, Lizzie, one day!

It wasn't 'too' cold to wear, seeing as we're already closing in on December, but I can see myself layering this dress up with a sheer blouse underneath. Rokku is great for layering up and I could always switch up my New Look shoe boots for over-the-knee ones.

Agejo Gyaru on the Catwalk ~ Hyper Japan!

Hey everyone! How are you today?
I went to Hyper Japan for the first time last weekend! My friends have always told me that I should go, so one day I caved and decided to check it out. I saw that they had a fashion show so I applied to represent agejo, and they accepted me! I was so happy >\\\<

I stayed at Chewiee's house the night before and then she played with my hair the next morning. I wasn't allowed to look until it was done and oh my gosh she is amazing! My hair looked so big! I was very close to God that day tehehe.

I Wish I Was Better At... Gyaru Hair!

cute gyaru hairstyle

I've been into gyaru for quite a while now but there was always something lacking in my appearance; the gyaru hair. Work and uni took quite a lot of my spare time so I haven't been able to experiment that much, but with uni over I can hopefully try some new styles out. This idea was enforced when my girl Chewiee did my hair for Hyper Japan (see pics here) and I really want to focus more on my hair and get the basics down!

To help myself - and hopefully you - out I've compiled a collection of both video tutorials and picture tutorials. Let's work on this together!

Sponsored Review: HimeNailShop

Hey cuties! How are you this weekend? Having fun?

I've had a huge obsession with false nails lately... Because of my job I can't really wear the super long ones but I have slowly started getting used to wearing them! I think my longest pair were my Halloween ones that I did... But everyone starts from somewhere, don't they?

To me, nails are a huge part of gyaru! I haven't really thought it before but the tiny details do really make the coord complete! That's why I was really happy when I saw that my friend Heather started selling some of her nails on Etsy >////< Now I can have easy access to short but pretty false nails!

The nails I received were these gorgeous pink to purple glitter ombre ones that actually have some cute crystals on them! I asked for the short option because she does both long and short nails!

Please note that also this is a sponsored review, these thoughts are 100% my own!

Agejo Gyaru at MCM Expo!

Hey everyone! How are you? Hope you're having a good weekend so far!

Last week I went to MCM Expo! I did OTT agejo gyaru and I was quite nervous about this because I've never done this before, but then I thought about all of the amazing people I was going to see ଘ꒰◍ॢ•ᴗ•◍ॢ꒱༌✩ plus I really wanted to wear my new MA*RS socks and Ruby Rose headband that Charli got for me

I met my friend Melissa at expo and after going through the queue we headed straight to meet a few of my friends. It was a bit confusing because everything is split into two rooms now... But it means that there are more stalls to buy from tehehe. So for the rest of the day we scoured the stalls and bought lots of goodies! I did a lot of running around after amazing cosplayers and at one point I actually said to someone, "No please don't go! I want to take a photo of you!" Sad, I know ^^" Here are some photos!

Happy Halloween! Trick or Treat?

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Halloween! Halloween is one of my favourite occasions of the year, but unfortunately I'm working so I can't dress up ;_;
But to make up for it, I made some Halloween nails! I got some nail deco from Born Pretty Store which arrived just two days before Halloween! Just in time or what? I've been trying to do more and more nails but I'm still a beginner ^^" I haven't read got the knack for painting, but I try my best!

The nail deco I ordered were these ones from Born Pretty Store! I was kind of expecting to get the whole pack including the jack o'lanterns but apparently not! So guys please read the options carefully as it seems they only release one design, if that makes sense?
I ended up with the ghost faces which came as a pack of five, so plenty to do some nails! I used four, two for each of my accent nails, so I have one lying around for next year!

They were the perfect size for my nails! I love them!

Dinner Dates & Late Night Parties!

Hey guys! How are you?
I've got some really, really good news... My eye has healed! I've never been so happy about something like that in my whole life. I'm still going to be very careful with it and keep it moisturised, but now I can finally put makeup on it! Here are a few agejo coords from last weekend~

♡ Queen of Hearts

This is my look for when I went out for a birthday party! I wore my new MA*RS set! I think it's a replica because although I think it's MA*RS the label says Princess Melody ^^" But that's okay, it was still super cute!

Sorry for the low quality pictures... Was in such a rush ;_; And lighting is so bad in my room.

Yesstyle Review: GOLDS Infinity Ruffled Top

Hey everyone! How are you?
Yes, it's me again... Looks like you have to put up with me for an extra day this week tehehe. As I explained in my last post "My Gyaru Wardrobe: Take Two!" I needed to do an extra post because I've got quite a few lined up and didn't want to have a back log because then I'll end up having lots of drafts but no published posts!

Today's post is a review of this gorgeous GOLDS Infinity top from Yesstyle! Please note that although this is a sponsored review, all of my thoughts are 100% my own.

I received this top last week and I was so excited to try it on! As you know, I'm a huge agejo fan but I've only really worn MA*RS, and GOLDS Infinity still have a few elegant items that you could work with agejo. For now I'm going to call it "classy agejo"~

My Gyaru Wardrobe, Take Two!

Hey everyone! How are you? ♡
I was going through my gyaru wardrobe one day when I realised just how much it has expanded over the past year or two. It's crazy! It made me think about all of the money I spent and I sincerely apologise, Bank, for breaking you repeatedly. I promise I won't spend as much over the next week year or so! This brought me back to my gyaru wardrobe post that I wrote back in 2012 linkso I think it's time that I update it and see where my style has taken me!

Back then I didn't really know where I was going with my style but now I think I have a clearer idea. My main style is agejo because I love it so much I'm still going to be a "chameleon-gyaru" and try out lots of different styles though!

Let's start with my favourite, Agejo

Agejo, Hime Gyaru & Cute Buys!

Hey everyone! How are you? ♡
This week hasn't been kind to me... First my eye swell up, and now I'm ill! ⁽⁽꒰ ๑॔˃̶̣̣̥ ꒫ ˂̶̣̣̥๑॓꒱ ྀྀAutumn is definitely here. I did feel really down about it but I'm locking myself away until I feel 100%!

Today I want to talk about my super cute items from Honey LY! My bby Charli ran a shopping service while she was on holiday in Japan and I just had to order a few things that I knew I couldn't get over here.
When she was in Japan she took lots of photos of the items I wanted to double check that they were the right ones, and as soon as she touched ground in the UK she sent them off and they arrived within a day! I was so amazed! I was really ill that day so it made everything seem so much brighter.

And these are my items! Aren't they so adorable?

Arrr Me Hearties~ Shopping with Pixie!

Hey everyone! How're you today?
On Wednesday I met up with my bby Pixie! It has been so long since I last saw her - like, May? - and I've missed her so much!

We decided to meet up early but I woke up to my eye being as swollen as ever! ;_; I knew I shouldn't have rubbed it when I was tired the previous night... Luckily I bought a medical eye patch to cover it because there was no way that I wasn't going to wear makeup.
I wish I realised just how big the eye patch was before I was doing my makeup... Because when I had finished and unwrapped it from its packaging I was starting to panic. It was huge! Like it covered all of my face! I had to sew it in half and work my magic so that I could actually see out of the other eye. But it was okay in the end and I started to feel better about it ^^

I went for a preppy d.i.a look and wore this shirt that I've had for ages but never really wore it. I need to wear it more often because it's super pretty!

Booo this sucks ;_;

Something Personal: Life Updates!

Hey everyone~ How are you?
I've been really busy with work this week so I didn't have time to do any gal-related things (apart from purchase some items tehe), and my eye isn't helping out either! It really sucks! I miss wearing makeup and doing gal stuff ( •̣̣̣̣̣̥́௰•̣̣̣̣̣̥̀ )

I realised that I haven't really written a "personal" post in ages. When I first started blogging I treated it like my diary but now... Not so much. It makes me sad because I feel that my posts are becoming too generic and boring and I'm not really writing what's on my mind. Like I blog whatever I wanted and didn't care what it was about! Now I care too much and always worry that  you guys will get bored ( •̣̣̣̣̣̥́௰•̣̣̣̣̣̥̀ )

So this is going to be a "personal" post about some recent updates in my life.

I've learned that it's okay to not have that perfect life, because it's the things that are hard the reach that have the most exciting journeys! I was starting to feel down because I still haven't found a full-time design job but I need to pick myself up and keep on trying! As long as I have my loved ones, nothing can bring me down.

I've realised that I'm not good at keeping goals. I just have so many big ideas that I soon get overwhelmed and start to avoid them... I really need to start with small steps first. It's so annoying! Like I want to practice my French more, start up on my Chinese, improve my blogging, do some design work... It's really difficult doing them all at once!

I've fallen in love with Sailor Moon. Since Sailor Moon Crystal came out I was getting really curious about Sailor Moon and managed to watch all of the series in very little time! At first I was a bit skeptical about Usagi and found her a bit annoying, but now she's my treasure. I love her so much that I bought a Sailor Moon sweater and I'm planning on buying some more Sailor Moon goodies!

Gyaru Inspiration: Nail Art

Yep, this week I'm going to be talking about nail art. I realised that I buy way too many clothes and don't really think about the small things that really make the outfit pop, and one of them is the nails! I only have a few sets and I really want to start making some for myself. My friend Heather has recently opened a nail shop on Etsy Hime Nail Shop which also got me really inspired.

I know it's going to take me a while to actually get good at doing nails but I might as well look for inspiration! I'm going to split it into two sections - OTT & casual - because I can't really wear false nails at work. I've included some neat tutorials too at the bottom!

A Busy Gal's Life: Recent Outings!

Hey everyone! How are you?
I've been doing quite a lot recently... Now that uni is over I finally have more time to see my friends! I was going to do these posts separately but then my blog would be so behind and I'd get annoyed at myself, tehe.

Meeting up with Charli~

So the first "meet" I had was with my bby Charli It had been ages since I saw her, and I missed her so much ( •̣̣̣̣̣̥́௰•̣̣̣̣̣̥̀ ) We didn't meet up until much later because the trains were being an absolute pain, but we did have time to eat some yummy food, take purikura & some photos! Guess who was the one pulling disgusting faces? (Idk how she puts up with me :P)

Kawaii Gyaru Shop Review: Vintage Doll

Hey cuties! How are you today? Hope you're having a good weekend so far!
I can't believe it's September already... It's so depressing because I'm a summer baby ;_; But I'm also really excited to see the autumn trends! And perhaps to do some more shopping? *_*

Anyway, today I want to talk about this beautiful dress sponsored by the wonderful Kawaii Gyaru Shop . It's from the super cute brand "Liz Lisa" which I seem to be falling in love with more and more each day! I'm hoping to expand my himekaji wardrobe but it looks like it's put on hold as I have way too many clothes.

Teeny Tiny Trip to London

Hey cuties! How are you?
So after I took some photos last Sunday for my review I was so in love with the eyeshadow and my new lashes that I decided to doll up (which you can see in my previous post). This post right here is a perfect example of my indecisiveness - I did agejo gal! I know, I'm so bad ;_; I think I've come to the decision that I'm just going to dress in whatever style I want and not stick to one thing, because I will never be able to stay put.

Aaaaanyway before I get myself into anymore trouble...

After I had taken photos for my review, I was about to take off my makeup and hibernate in bed when I got a message from Chewiee if I could meet her up in London, as my friend Amber was free wanted to see me! She had been in England for about a week now and unfortunately I wasn't able to meet her at the gal meet because of work... So I was really happy that I could finally get the chance to meet her before she flies back home!

Love how Chewiee photobombed one of them ;D

Here, Kitty Kitty...

Hey cuties! How are you today?
This week is yet another review, I hope you don't mind! <3 This time I'm going to be reviewing some makeup and seeing as makeup is extremely important in gyaru, I'm going to do this in more detail so that you guys could add another eyeshadow palette and mascara to your collection.

Get 10% off all Born Pretty Store products by using the code "HORNH10" !

aka "Magic Long Thick Mascara for Long Thick Eyelash Eye Cat Shaped

I only really use mascara on my days off or to let my natural lashes blend in with my false lashes, so I'm going to show two shots - one with just mascara and another with lashes - just so you can see what it would look like with your gyaru makeup! I have to admit that I chose it solely for its super cute packaging... So let's see if it's good as a mascara too!

Mart of China Review: Totem Tee

Hey everyone! How're you?
My little "holiday" is over and now I'm back to what we call the real-life world. Gosh I didn't realise just how taxing work could be until I stumbled home having had a really tiring day. The weather has taken it's turn for the worse as well.... Sigh.

Not that that's going to let me down though, because it's perfect for wearing things like this gorgeous poncho. I haven't worn a poncho since I was like, 8, but I just couldn't help myself to this one from Mart of China. The material is really nice on the skin as well but I couldn't figure out what kind it was as everything was in Chinese. D'oh.

Mart of China is basically a wholesale company where they sell men & women's clothing for great prices, so I'd totally recommend them if you're on a budget. They have a sale going on at the moment which is a bonus!

The item I'll be reviewing is, of course, the Totem Print Batwing Sleeve Summer Tees (a bit of a mouthful, isn't it?) Even though this is a sponsored review, these opinions are 100% my own!

My Birthday "Weekend"

Hey everyone! How's it going?
I had a super fun week this week, you wanna' know why? Because it was my birthday! Obviously not for the whole week but you get my meaning. It was the first time in a while that I actually had a "party" because for the past few years I've either been abroad or my friends were working etc, so I was really looking forward to just hanging out and having fun on my birthday.

My "pre-birthday" event was a barbecue at my house, and oh my gosh it was such a fun evening! I only had a few close friends and my boyfriend, so it was really cosy. I had so much food that I felt like I was having a food baby! I'm drooling at the thought of the delicious barbecued piri chicken... Yum.
I couldn't decide whether to do agejo or himekaji so for my "pre-birthday" event I went for a really soft himekaji look, and for my birthday I wore agejo. I'm falling in love with Liz Lisa even more everyday (it still can't beat MA*RS, but it's getting there). This dress was, once again, sponsored by the wonderful Kawaii Gyaru Shop who I would totally recommend 100%. I noticed that they had some gorgeous My Melody bags as well to all those who are interested in sweet styles such as hime! Enter the code LIZBEE to get a discount!

Sugar & Spice

Hey everyone! How are you?
I’ve had a fantastic week (and weekend) so far; I’m back at home with my family and friends and I didn’t realise how much I’ve missed everyone until I had to drive home. I just couldn’t wait to get past all of the traffic! I guess home really is where the heart is.

I spent the first few days meeting my old friends and having good quality catch-up time, and what’s better to catch up then over some shopping and iced coffee? Below are my three outfits on the days that I went out!

Sweetheart
This was my outfit where I met up with my friend Annie, and perhaps the first time I wore "proper" makeup in a long time. As you can see, I couldn’t stay away from MA*RS for long. I’ve decided that it’s going to be hard to completely avoid it so I’m going to keep on wearing it until I’ve built up my hime wardrobe. It was on this day that I started my shopping spree... Whoops.

Easy Gyaru Makeup & Hair Tutorials

easy gyaru hair tutorial, eye makeup

There are times where I wish I could do gyaru at work. The thing is that prioritise sleep over slapping my face on with makeup, which makes those weekends for dolling up even more precious. However I do want to be an everyday gyaru wherever possible so I spent the last few weeks collecting lots of easy hair and makeup tutorials on my tumblr under the tag "casual" where I included some outfits as well. But then I thought... Why not share this collection with my readers?

Below you'll find a whole set of hair and makeup tutorials that are great for the everyday gyaru/gal! I hope you find them useful!

Gal at Work

I used to do gal everyday, rain or shine. I never went out the house until I had at least my upper lashes on... But then uni happened. I reduced the amount of my gal make; first it was the lower lashes, then the nose stripe contour, whittling down until I finally ended up only wearing foundation. I chose sleep over makeup, because there wasn't any point to wearing gal make anymore if it was only to uni or work.

But after wearing these gorgeous upper lashes from Born Pretty Store I decided to give gal another try, and chose the day where I didn't have to go in super early to work so that I had time to do my makeup. I only had time to do a really light gal look and these lashes were absolutely perfect for that! They looked natural but not too natural, and I used my eyelash curlers to give them a bit of extra oomph.

Where Did the Sun Go?! Gal Day Out!

Hey guys! How's it going?

I've been feeling really down lately ;_;  I can't really pinpoint the reason behind it but I think it might be the weather? Could people's moods be affected by such a thing? Whatever it was, I felt constantly exhausted and just wanted to curl up in bed eating chocolate and watching films.

So I was really looking forward to finally seeing some of my friends that I haven't seen in a long, long time. However nothing seemed to go right that day; the weather was crap, my hair didn't turn out like I thought it would, and my lashes just wouldn't cooperate... I was experiencing almost every gaijin gyaru problem that there could possibly be! I got so fed up that I thought "Aah f*ck it" and just walked out the door and made my way to London.

This was my makeup and outfit for the day! Please excuse how crappy my makeup looks... And my hair... And my face in general ;_; At least my outfit was nice though! Would've looked better with my straw hat but blame that on the sh*tty weather.

I have to say that I do love these upper lashes though; they were from Born Pretty Store and really good for that "soft" appearance. You can get 10% discount with my code HORNH10 too!

Leaving Agejo Gyaru? New Adventures!

Hey guys! How's it going?

You may have been wondering why I haven't worn agejo lately... In truth, it's because I've gone completely off it. It's really sad because I've spent so much money on gorgeous MA*RS items and now I can't even think about wearing them anymore ;_; They're just hanging uselessly in my wardrobe. I just wore agejo so much that I felt tired of wearing it, and it's hard to create different outfits of the same item. I know that I do have a lot - and I mean a lot - of MA*RS to wear but everything just looked so similar so it didn't really feel like it.

I'm not too sure what to do about it so for now I'm just going to leave it. I don't think I can bear selling anything, but who knows?

Right now my heart has been captured by hime kaji and equally cute styles. I'm starting to love hime gyaru again, but I don't think I can go as far as wearing lots of La Pafait or Jesus Diamante. I've gathered lots of inspirational pictures on my tumblr but it's hard to do it without having any hime kaji/gyaru items! However, I've told myself not to spend too much on it otherwise it'll just be like agejo and MA*RS all over again, and I don't think my bank I can handle it.

But it's been hard not to scroll through sites and drool over any hime-inspired items, so I thought that the best way to help me out is to create a wishlist! :D

Sponsored Review: Kawaii Gyaru Shop

Hey everyone! How are you? I hope you all had a wonderful week. It's been getting much warmer here now (about time) and so I'm feeling really positive despite my horrible hayfever ;_;

Today I'm super happy to bring you a review from Kawaii Gyaru Shop! I've been eying up this shop a lot lately due to my recent interest in hime kaji, and they also sell My Melody which is great. I was really happy when the owner, Stephanie, contacted me about doing a sponsored review. Even though this is a sponsored review, all opinions stated are my own!

Enter the code LIZBEE to get a discount!

The Items

Onto the review~ She sent me a whole bunch of items which only took 10 days to arrive which was amazing because normally they'd take a lot longer, especially for a box as big as this! My jaw dropped when I saw this waiting for me at home. She even decorated it with Hello Kitty stickers! I quickly unraveled it as I was really excited to see what was inside.

The owner is really attentive because she put in a few Hello Kitty items after seeing a previous blog post where I said that I really wanted some Hello Kitty items! She's such a sweetheart <3

So the accessories include (in no particular order): makeup bag, false lashes (YAY!), chopsticks, eye lash case, tote bag, stickers, picnic blanket/table cloth, and over-the-knee socks! So many items! I was nearly crying with joy when I saw all of the Hello Kitty...

Can I Still Be A Gyaru If...?

I don't know why but recently I've noticed that people new to the scene are forever asking questions like, "Can I still be gyaru if I can't wear circle lens?" or "Can I still be gyaru with [x] colour hair?" Because of this, I have decided to create a big post on the most popular questions asked in our community! This is part of my Gaijin Gyaru Guide series.

Can I still be a gyaru if... I don't wear circle lens?
Yes, yes yes! Although circle lens really help complete the look, it is possible to work without. I've been doing it for goodness knows how long and there are a few other gaijin gyarus such as Pin who really rock it without them. It just takes a hell of a lot more work, and I know from experience that it does take a while to get used to wearing dramatic makeup to make-up for the lack of lens but it's all about working with your eyeshape to make your eyes look bigger.

Pin looking flawless as always!

Hello Kitty Madness

hello kitty lover

Before Gyaru, there was Hello Kitty.

I went through the phase that nearly every girl went through; I fell in love with Hello Kitty, but it seems that even after so many years I'm still a huge fan of it. I'm not as crazy as I was before when I used to wear as much Hello Kitty as possible, but I still like an accessory here and there.

I admit that I did look pretty cute during that stage but I was such a n00b! I'm glad that I grew out of it a little because I was just spending all the money I had on it. Bag, jewellery, clothes... Anything and everything I could get my hands on, I did. I still have lots of those items now because I just can't bear to throw anything away. It was right after this Hello Kitty stage that I discovered himekaji and hime gyaru... It basically took me to where I am today! Here's a photo of what I used to look like during my Hello-Kitty-obsessed stage:

What's This? "Neogal"?

from kotaku
I've been hearing about this new sub style of gal recently and after seeing this article by Kotaku I decided to investigate on Tumblr. It took me a while to realise that I was actually scrolling through "Neogal" and not this new Japanese-hipster trend that I thought it was.

Because that's exactly what "Neogal" looked like; Japanese hipster style. Now, I love all types of gal and would never speak ill of any of it but this… This is different. There wasn't any hint of gal left in it, it just looks like they slapped on some upper lashes and circle lens and hey presto, it's "gal".

Here are a few pictures to explain what I mean:

Kogal at MCM!

Wow, what a week! I finally finished uni and I feel so free and now I feel like doing some cartwheels and leaping through the air. If only I wasn't so lazy; I'll just eat some ice cream instead.

I thought it was time to actually get out the house for a bit and went with my boyfriend to MCM Expo! I really wanted to make an effort and even though I didn't have a cosplay outfit I did manage to purchase this gorgeous dolly pink seifuku from Pixie Bunny. I cannot express how much I love this set! It made me feel all girly and cute.

This was my first time wearing a seifuku so I just had to go with the kogal theme. I spent ages thinking about what hairstyle to do and I didn't actually decide on everything (makeup, hair etc) until the day. I am so unorganised! I'll do better next time.

Reverie

persunmall review, himekaji, gyaru, gaijin gyaru

I am so sorry that I wasn't able to post last week (but would you let me off because I posted it on my FB? Hahaha). I was just so caught up with uni work that I didn't have the time to dress up nice or do anything about blogging so I had to take a break. But now that uni is over I feel a bit... Empty. I have been studying for most of my life and now I feel like I feel lost in reverie.

To celebrate I arranged to go out for a meal and decided to slap on a bit of makeup and slip into a pretty dress that I got a couple of weeks ago. I wanted a day dress to wear as I realised that most of my dresses were too "dressy" for just going out shopping/working/etc, and this one was absolutely perfect! It has a lovely shape to it too... At first I was worried that I bought the wrong size but I'm glad I got this one as the elastic just above the waist really helps give that flare. Did I tell you that I love the cream/pastel palette right now? Even though it's bound to rain anytime soon I still wanted to wear this dress, and my new bag.

Wishlist: Late Spring/Summer Favourites

It's that time of the month again where I make a wishlist of the things I want to buy with the money I don't have. Sigh.

I've been really into hime-kaji and "light" gyaru substyles so I went to have a look for some cute clothes that weren't black, and what's cuter than this polka dot crop shirt? I have recently bought some white shorts and this is perfect for it. I could just see myself wearing them together with my hat with wavy hair... Dammit, why isn't it in my wardrobe right now!

Gal Blogging is Dead; Long Live Gal Blogging!

I first got into gal/gyaru through blogging on livejournal before taking blogging seriously and migrating to Blogger. I started off just posting some outfit and makeup shots and people would give me advice on my blog on how I could improve...

Three years later I'm still blogging but there seems to be a huge drop in the gaijin gal blogging "market", as it were. It seems that more and more people prefer posting on other social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr, and I can count all of the active bloggers (that I know of) on one hand. There used to be tons of gaijin gal blogs! Reading and commenting on other gal's blogs was the only way I could communicate with them, and it was fun!

It's quite sad to see that gal blogging has been diminishing and it's because I love reading blogs. I feel that there's a lot more to blogs than just flicking through someone's photos on Facebook. Sure, it takes more time to write a post than to upload a few pictures and #hashtag like crazy, but to me it's just nice to read what was on someone's mind or what their day was like.

Pixie Bunny Newsletter: Light Intro

Hey everyone! How's your weekend been so far?

As you might already know, I'm the official vlogger for Pixie Bunny but my other and newer role is that I am now blogging for it! Once every month I'll showcase our new stock and say what works best with which item, and shall show examples of some outfits.
But what is Pixie Bunny?

Pixie Bunny is an online store run by one of my close friends Pixie_Late, and is aimed at anyone who's interested in Japanese "kawaii" fashion. Lucky for us there are some items that are perfect for the Gyaru wardrobe (woohoo!). Pixie has also produced her own line "Pixie Couture" where she hand-produces clothes and accessories.

Here are some examples of the best-selling items from her fashion line.
