Sponsored Review: Kawaii Gyaru Shop

Hey everyone! How are you? I hope you all had a wonderful week. It's been getting much warmer here now (about time) and so I'm feeling really positive despite my horrible hayfever ;_;

Today I'm super happy to bring you a review from Kawaii Gyaru Shop! I've been eying up this shop a lot lately due to my recent interest in hime kaji, and they also sell My Melody which is great. I was really happy when the owner, Stephanie, contacted me about doing a sponsored review. Even though this is a sponsored review, all opinions stated are my own!

The Items

Onto the review~ She sent me a whole bunch of items which only took 10 days to arrive which was amazing because normally they'd take a lot longer, especially for a box as big as this! My jaw dropped when I saw this waiting for me at home. She even decorated it with Hello Kitty stickers! I quickly unraveled it as I was really excited to see what was inside.

The owner is really attentive because she put in a few Hello Kitty items after seeing a previous blog post where I said that I really wanted some Hello Kitty items! She's such a sweetheart <3

So the accessories include (in no particular order): makeup bag, false lashes (YAY!), chopsticks, eye lash case, tote bag, stickers, picnic blanket/table cloth, and over-the-knee socks! So many items! I was nearly crying with joy when I saw all of the Hello Kitty...

Can I Still Be A Gyaru If...?

I don't know why but recently I've noticed that people new to the scene are forever asking questions like, "Can I still be gyaru if I can't wear circle lens?" or "Can I still be gyaru with [x] colour hair?" Because of this, I have decided to create a big post on the most popular questions asked in our community! This is part of my Gaijin Gyaru Guide series.

Can I still be a gyaru if... I don't wear circle lens?
Yes, yes yes! Although circle lens really help complete the look, it is possible to work without. I've been doing it for goodness knows how long and there are a few other gaijin gyarus such as Pin who really rock it without them. It just takes a hell of a lot more work, and I know from experience that it does take a while to get used to wearing dramatic makeup to make-up for the lack of lens but it's all about working with your eyeshape to make your eyes look bigger.

Pin looking flawless as always!

Hello Kitty Madness

hello kitty lover

Before Gyaru, there was Hello Kitty.

I went through the phase that nearly every girl went through; I fell in love with Hello Kitty, but it seems that even after so many years I'm still a huge fan of it. I'm not as crazy as I was before when I used to wear as much Hello Kitty as possible, but I still like an accessory here and there.

I admit that I did look pretty cute during that stage but I was such a n00b! I'm glad that I grew out of it a little because I was just spending all the money I had on it. Bag, jewellery, clothes... Anything and everything I could get my hands on, I did. I still have lots of those items now because I just can't bear to throw anything away. It was right after this Hello Kitty stage that I discovered himekaji and hime gyaru... It basically took me to where I am today! Here's a photo of what I used to look like during my Hello-Kitty-obsessed stage:

What's This? "Neogal"?

I've been hearing about this new sub style of gal recently and after seeing this article by Kotaku I decided to investigate on Tumblr. It took me a while to realise that I was actually scrolling through "Neogal" and not this new Japanese-hipster trend that I thought it was.

Because that's exactly what "Neogal" looked like; Japanese hipster style. Now, I love all types of gal and would never speak ill of any of it but this… This is different. There wasn't any hint of gal left in it, it just looks like they slapped on some upper lashes and circle lens and hey presto, it's "gal".

Here are a few pictures to explain what I mean:

Kogal at MCM!

Wow, what a week! I finally finished uni and I feel so free and now I feel like doing some cartwheels and leaping through the air. If only I wasn't so lazy; I'll just eat some ice cream instead.

I thought it was time to actually get out the house for a bit and went with my boyfriend to MCM Expo! I really wanted to make an effort and even though I didn't have a cosplay outfit I did manage to purchase this gorgeous dolly pink seifuku from Pixie Bunny. I cannot express how much I love this set! It made me feel all girly and cute.

This was my first time wearing a seifuku so I just had to go with the kogal theme. I spent ages thinking about what hairstyle to do and I didn't actually decide on everything (makeup, hair etc) until the day. I am so unorganised! I'll do better next time.
