Our Obsession with Brands

It's true; we, as gals, have an obsession with brands.

I'm really guilty of doing this. Whenever I see someone buy brand items like a gorgeous MA*RS set I go, "Ooh it looks pretty! I want it! I've got to buy it! I bought it." A couple of months ago I bought a MA*RS dress for £92, and it didn't really look as if it was worth that amount of money.

Why did I do this? Because I feel that Japanese gal brand makes you more gal. Well, it certainly helps boost that "gal-ness" anyway.

After this I decided to cut all costs of buying MA*RS and go back to being a budget gal. It was really difficult at first because I was like a addict who's cigarettes/drugs/whatever was taken away from them, but it got easier after a week or two. Even now I'm not so desperate to buy any brand items and this makes me try and think of more ways to wear the stuff I've got. It has really saved my bank and I just feel a lot less guilty now that I haven't bought MA*RS when I should really be buying uni supplies.

My "addiction" is probably due to the way our community values brand items. Like I said before, we have that mindset where if we wear gal brand we are more gal than the person next to us who is wearing local brand. If gal fashion was easier to replicate from our "own" western brands than there wouldn't be so much hassle trying to look like the best gal in the world because you have hundreds of gal brands.

Living the Gal Life: London Gal Meet

"The higher the hair, the closer you are to God."

Hey! How's your week been so far?
The past few weeks of stress and lack of sleep was totally worth it; I managed to finish my projects a couple of weeks early, and I celebrated it by going to a gal meet! It was my friend Jada's birthday some time ago but oh well! It was so much fun. We had some bubble tea, took purikura (something that's now obligatory for a gal meet in my opinion), and then went off to do some karaoke! It was actually really relaxing because before I knew it I had to head home. I wish I could've stayed for longer… Stupid trains and their engineering work.

I did a half-do hairstyle with long and beautifully tight curls… Well, that's what it did look like until an hour later. I swear my hair is absolutely terrible when it comes to holding styles! This photo was taken when I was on the bus waiting to go to London, only 40 minutes after I had finished curling my hair with a small curler.

Hair died within 40 minutes... Boo ;_;

See what I mean?

Gobbledygook

Because that's exactly how my brain feels right now.

I'm just finding it so hard to come up with something to write! Uni has totally drained the motivation out of me and I'm left with huge bags under my eyes and with an addiction to coffee. I just can't think of anything other than design right now, and it's killing me. Although I am happy to say that I've actually managed to finish a project two weeks before the deadline. Awh yih, now that's what I'm talking about.

But doing so much uni work has been really bad for blogging, so bad that I had to refer to my 'blog post ideas' list. If this list was written in a book then that book would have a thick layer of dust by now. Throughout my years of blogging I always had something to write, but this time I've got nothing. Zilch. Nada. Rien.

So… What to write… Well, I can start with stop making this post depressing! (Yeah, Lizzie...) I want this blog to be filled with nothing but positivity this year, and I've even started a memory jar so that I could fill it up with notes on amazing things that happened this year. Are you doing this too? If not, you should! I always feel so happy looking at it haha. Can't wait to open it in 2015.

I'll now present my first positive note of the year!

See Ya' Later, Alligator

Hey guys! How is your year so far? Are you having a good year so far? (Or is it too early to say that?)

I did, my year has definitely had a great start… And do you want to know why? It’s because SHERLOCK’S BACK IN TOWN, AWH YIH.
As you may already know, I’m a big fan of Sherlock. As soon as I saw Benedict Cumberbatch’s face on the scream I emitted a little fan-girl scream (surprising my housemate) and continued to do so for about ten minutes or so. I was just so happy to see it back on the screen after goodness knows how long.
But I’m going to stop there because I want this blog to be spoiler-free, but those who have watched it… It was amazing, wasn’t it?!
