Top Tips for Newbie Gaijin Gyaru

gaijin gyaru meets black diamond gyaru

Hello m'dears, it is your gaijin gyaru granny speaking. Well, that's how I feel anyway - because did you know that I've been into this Japanese fashion for nearly 8 years? Shocker. But gyaru is forever changing so there's always something new to learn, and even now I will put my hands up and admit that I still suck at styling my hair. It's something that I've grown to accept, so I focus my efforts more on trying to help others - such as yourself - into this wonderful world of gyaru.

There have been many obstacles along the way, so I have gathered my top tips to help you out on your path as a newbie gaijin gyaru.

My Happiness Menu

funny happy gyaru

One day I was driving along minding my own business when my ears pricked up at the sound of "the happiness menu". It was on a podcast (maybe the Creative Pep Talk?) and they talked about it being a list of things that make you happy.

So I imagined my life as a dining place. It would be one of those ice-cream parlours with super pink walls and lots of cute little chairs. 80s pop music will be blasting on the radio and I would probably be doing some embarrassing dance moves behind the counter. And my Happiness Menu? It would be pink set in gold foil lettering - I'm extra, I know - with little heart illustrations. But what's on the menu? Well, let's find out...

30 Places to Explore Before I'm 30

travel blogger, holiday packing, 30 places to explore

When I was growing up my parents made it our yearly goal to go on holiday. It didn’t matter how far or how close it was, but we would pack our bags and travel for a couple of weeks to a whole new place. As I grew up and moved out for university it all changed. I travelled a lot less - so much so that for a few years I didn’t go anywhere at all.

But now I’ve been hit by the wanderlust bug, hard. I just want to go out and explore! I’ve been scrolling endlessly through travel blogs and came across Kirsty’s post on '30 countries before 30' and it really inspired me to write this post.

So here it is - my ultimate list. I’ll put a little heart next to the places I’ve been and things I've done (that I might revisit one day).
