I feel like it’s been ages since we had a catch up, and with the new year I think it’s time for us to sit down and have a chat over afternoon tea. I’m going to drop in some photos I took from when I went to Biscuiteers in London for afternoon tea, just to set the scene. So grab a cuppa’, a scone from Morrisons (but don’t forget the clotted cream and jam!) and let’s have a catch up.
2018 Highlights
I’m a married woman!
This year has been an adventure, starting off with the fact that I got married. Yep, I am a Mrs! I still can’t quite believe it but every day I just look at my ring and sigh with happiness. I am truly thankful to be able to share my every moment with the one I love, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us. Every time I’m having a bad day I just look through our wedding blog post (as we haven’t been able to get a photo album yet) and it makes me so happy.
We adopted a fur baby
We’re finally parents to the most adorable cat in the world! As soon as we clapped eyes on her in our local rescue centre I knew she was The One. She’s three – almost four – years old, but she still acts like a kitten and loves chasing the laser pen around the room. I can’t wait to show you some photos but she always shys away from the camera.
I got featured in a magazine
And I covered a whole friggin’ page, too! Neo magazine reached out to me as they liked my article on the fear of being boring, and asked me to write a little bit about it for them in their November issue. When they sent me the pictures of the spread I nearly squealed with joy; because it turned out that my photo was used as the ‘cover’ for their article! How amazing is that?! Just thinking about it is making me grin.
WordPress is my new home
I recently made the huge shift from blogger to wordpress and it was so worth it. Pipdig were absolutely amazing and did everything for me – so all I had to do was wait! It was quite stressful because my mind always jumps to the worst possible outcome, but it was all okay in the end. I’m so happy with my blog looks and feel as if I’m a ‘real blogger’ now. There’s still a lot to learn about it, but I’m happy!
I went to my first blog event
And since then I’ve been to many more! I can’t believe how long it took me to reach out to other local bloggers, but I’m so happy I did because I’ve made so many friends through it. My first ever event was at Accessorize and I was super nervous! But now it’s almost second nature. I even got invited to go to the Cosy Club to try out their Christmas menu in Coventry, and that was the icing on top of the cake.
I got the travel bug
This year we managed to tick off so many travel destinations starting with our mini-moon in Morocco, the gal meet in Paris, another mini-moon in Amsterdam, Mansfield for my birthday, and then to Manchester for DriagCon (an independent Harry Potter event). I’m hoping to tick off more holidays next year because I have fallen head-over-heels in love with travelling again.

2018 Favourites
(In no particular order!)
So as well as listing this year’s highlights, I’d like to include some of my favourite blog posts over here on my little space on the internet, as well as some posts by other bloggers that I really resonated with this year. Y’know, to spread a lil’ love!
Favourite blog posts
- Dear diary – Today I married the one I love
- Proud to be me
- Lifestyle review – my new husband
- I’m finally comfortable with my gyaru style + it feels amazing
- Mission I’m-Possible – Creating the life I love
Favourite posts by other bloggers
- Daisybutter – My favourite seasons
- The Little Plum – How come nobody warned me about the ‘friend schedule’?
- Helene in Between – You can sleep when you’re dead
- Word of Rachel – Let’s talk: fake blogging engagement
- Hello Miss Jordan – On supporting others & knowing when to stop
All in all, it’s been a pretty damn good year, despite how negative I’ve been feeling. One of the things I’d like to work on next year is to practice self care more and not to be too hard on myself, but I’ll write more in another post!
So, how’s life been for you this year?
Love,
Lizzie xx

December 29, 2018I love this post! I found myself excited for you as I read it. You sound like you have had a great year! We have a rescue cat, Purdy, that sounds similar to yours. She is almost 4, yet acts like a crazy kitten. I adore her. She was our failed foster! I love that you aim to show yourself more kindness in the new year, thats a great aim. Im happy to have come across your blog xx All the best for the new year,
Kerry
