5th International Gyaru Lovers Meet!

It was the 5th international gyaru weekend last weekend and boy it was fun. There was lots of drinking, eating pizza, and karaoke and gosh it was awesome. I’m not much of a party person but it was so much fun!

Our weekend started when me, Chewiee and Sarah left the UK on Friday morning. We left really early because there were some delays on the underground, so it was like seeing some well-dressed zombies with suitcases trailing behind them. I, unfortunately, was ill so I was fully dosed up on pain killers (what timing eh?) Luckily the tube was okay and I had a bit of a nap on the flight there, and soon we were on our way to our hotel in Frankfurt. I’ve never been so relieved to see a hotel room before! We had a few hours to kill so we lazed around before putting makeup on. It was like watching a transformation from a caterpillar to a butterfly.

The pre-meet was lovely, and I’m a bit sad that I didn’t take any pictures but everyone was either super tired or ill. Looks like the cold/cough has affected everyone! I left a bit early to get some sleep so that I could feel better in the morning and I’m so glad I did.

The Main Event

Chewiee and I got up quite early to grab some medicine – our colds/coughs weren’t shifting – before we all got ready for the main event. Our hotel room was a sight – makeup was scattered across the whole place as well as hair straighteners and curlers. It was a typical sight for gyaru! I ended up doing tight curls for my hair and Chewiee helped me out making it more dramatic. She did such an amazing job! Easily one of my best hairstyles.

I did old-school and Chewiee did the new version dubbed Ane Agejo, it was awesome! I really like the new direction agejo is going in and have finally accepted that it might be time to ditch the dramatic print. So this is probably the last time I’ll wear old-school agejo…

Chewiee & I – all ready for the gal meet!

We are met up at 1pm before heading off to the venue. It was so good to see everyone again – I wanted to take as many selfies as possible but the venue was way too dark for it. It was a karaoke bar which is amazing because there were comfy seats and cool lighting but just not light enough to see each other’s faces very well. Luckily, however, there was a bit of light in the bathroom so I took some there – so classy.

Plutonium gyarusa did some parapara and Wes joined in at the end with Night of Fire! They were amazing, and it made me realise that I should pick it up again as its really fun to watch. After that they announced the winners of the Gyaru Lovers Awards – I was nominated for best hair, best hime (which I found amusing), best agejo, sweetest gyaru and Mrs. Gyaru Lovers. I was so surprised! I won best agejo which I was very happy with because I love that style so much… The prize was a zebra print purse!

Then it was time for karaoke. I was a bit sad because I couldn’t really sing much but I managed to do a duo with Chewiee in “Bring Me Back to Life” by Evanescence, and “I’m sexy and I know it” with Jada. I had so much fun! I think the cocktails helped haha. We went for drinks at Wes & Jada’s hotel afterwards so Chewiee and I quickly got into our night out wear before heading out.

The Morning After

Sunday was a really relaxing day (thank goodness) so we all met up at the main station before heading to this cafe place where they served a breakfast buffet. It was nice to chill out for a bit, but before we knew it we were on our way back to the train station and to the airport. We did, however, managed to take a massive group picture of a sleepy selves before we left.

I really liked how the meet was smaller than last time because it meant I could talk to people more! I was really shy last year, and barely spoke to anyone, and even though it took a while to get out of my shell I was so happy that I got to know everyone a bit more. I’m really looking forward to the next meet – fingers crossed I won’t be ill again!

And that’s all for today! I hope you enjoyed this post ^^ Have you been to a gyaru meet recently? Do you think you’ll go to the next international one?
