I’m Lizzie – and I love gyaru so much that I decided to dedicate a blog to it. 10 years later and I’m still here sharing my gyaru life as well as advice, inspirational posts, and tutorials!
I’m also a huge lover of all things cute and you might find me either scoffing cakes or pulling faces at the camera shouting ‘Agepoyo!’. It was my love for gyaru (a Japanese street fashion) that brought me to the magical world of blogging as I wanted a way to document everything that I learnt about it – the good, the bad, and the ugly. And here we are!
Wait… What exactly is ‘gyaru’?
Gyaru is a Japanese fashion that originated in the 90s’ as a rebellion against the typical beauty standards in Japan (e.g. dark hair and pale skin). Instead these gyaru – or ‘gals’ – tanned their skin and bleached their hair! It has developed a lot since then, but the dramatic eye-makeup and bold attitude remains. It branched out into several ‘substyles’ – with my favourites being himekaji (casual princess) and gyaru kei (general gyaru look)! I wrote more about this over here if you wanna’ delve into the history and meaning of gyaru.
Soooo what will I find on this blog?
I’ve come a long way since I started writing, but this place is still my online diary and gyaru blog. Here I’ll share my tips and tricks through my gaijin gyaru guide as well as cute lifestyle posts, my favourite gyaru outfits, and most importantly… My thoughts!
