I had given up hope of going to a pretty cafe that was outside of London, until Isobel showed me a really pretty and independent cafe called Bardia’s in Stratford-Upon-Avon. She promised to take me there after doing our little photoshoot in Stratford Butterfly Farm and I was so excited! I didn’t have much to eat that day, so by the time we arrived I was really craving some cake.
The cafe was tucked away in the middle of the town centre, not too far a walk from Shakespeare’s birthplace and I would’ve walked right past it if Isobel hadn’t pointed it out. It looked so cosy and cute! Ivy hung from the ceiling and entwined themselves around the lights that emitted a soft glow, giving the whole cafe a warm feeling (which contrasted greatly to the cold, windy weather outside). We went in and only had to wait a few moments before we were seated.
It was a lovely break from the hustle and bustle of the tourists, and I took some time to people-watch before going up to order. It’s not often I see a cafe offer oat milk (usually it’s between dairy, almond or soya milk) so I immediately opted for that one with my English Breakfast tea, alongside a homemade victoria sponge. Gosh the cake was SO GOOD and – dare I say it – moist. It wasn’t overloaded with sugar and I gobbled the whole thing up in a heartbeat.
The staff were as lovely as the cakes; they were so accommodating and noticed that we kept moving seats in order to sit somewhere that was more comfortable, and even offered to take photos of me and Isobel for the ‘gram, tehe!
About Bardia’s
Address: High Street (27.50 km), Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6EU
Opening hours: Monday – Friday: 07.30 – 18.00; Saturday: 08.00 – 18.00; Sunday: 08.30 – 17.00
Cafe prices: Very reasonable! My tea and cake came to around £5 altogether – plus the cakes are homemade.
Other notes: The place is quite small so you might have to get cosy!
How to get there
Bardia’s is about a 5 minute walk from Shakespeare’s birthplace, so it’s the perfect resting place after a day of doing touristy things! I would suggest walking there as it can be pretty crowded, and there are plenty of car parks in the surrounding areas.
Overall
Bardia’s is a beautiful coffee shop, and what I love about it is how friendly the staff were. They were so accommodating and the cakes were delicious, and I would definitely go back the next time I’m in Stratford.
Have you been to Bardia’s Coffee before? Where’s your favourite cafe?
Love,
Lizzie xx
