Basic Witch

There’s a time in everyone’s life where they dabbled in a bit of magic. I was just starting out in secondary school (so around 13 years old) when a sparkly blue cover caught the corner of my eye, and upon pulling it out from where it was crammed on the library shelf I discovered that it was a beginner’s guide to white magic (aka Wicca). It didn’t take me long to check it out and for several months after I was obsessed with it when, like the typical teenager I was, I got bored and it was left to gather dust on my bookshelf.

A couple of years down the line one of my close friends at the time, J, brought her Wiccan book to drama class and I was falling into it all over again… But this book was next level Wicca. It made mine look like it was child’s play. At this point I got a little bit nervous – I did it just for fun yet J’s book was taking it seriously and it made me realise that this was like any other religion out there and I couldn’t take it lightly like a plaything. People actually believed strongly about this and I was insulting them by dabbling in it and insulting them again by just doing a spell or two without really caring about Wicca as a whole. They were only spells to boost confidence but they were still spells. So once again I stopped myself from getting into it.

I’ve been effected by this ever since and I’m always drawn into conversations of Wicca, tarot cards, and anything magical, but that’s all I’ve ever done – listened. I will never again take Wicca lightly and if I were to try it again then I will go all out; I will learn about the Goddess and everything that you can about it before I even touch a spell. I will not be a ‘Basic Witch’.

Have you ever heard about Wicca or experienced it? What was it like? I’d love to hear your stories!

You look so gorgeous xo !!!
I like the artworks for tarot cards and major and minor arcanas, but I haven’t really dabbled into anything in the official witchy sphere because I had a super religious upbringing.
