Round & Round like a Horse on a Carousel…

liz lisa carousel dress

It’s amazing how your clothes can affect your mental and physical state; as soon as I put on a cute dress I suddenly feel very positive and princess-y, and that’s exactly how I felt when I put on my new Liz Lisa dress from Kawaii Gyaru Shop*. Gosh I can’t tell you how in awe I am of it – I mean, look at that print! Let’s all just take a moment to appreciate how beautiful it is.

All of my Liz Lisa is beautiful but this one has by far topped it. Sorry, my other Liz Lisa clothes, but it looks like I’m going to try and wear this as many times as I can. Luckily it’s been getting so hot in the UK so hopefully that will happen!

One of my best friend’s, Amy, was having a birthday tea party and I just couldn’t resist wearing this dress. I mean come on, a tea party, you can’t get anymore princess-y than that. I kept my fingers crossed that it wouldn’t rain and luckily it didn’t, and I had such a great day. We drank tea, ate scones with jam and cream, and took lots of photos! I actually prefer these kind of gatherings to the partying type – I just get so exhausted with all that drinking that I’ll only last an hour at a nightclub. Oops.

It feels like ages since I had the chance to relax. Life has been hectic lately and I can feel myself running into exhaustion because I just can’t stop working. Even outside of work I find myself drawing for my 100 day project and I’m worried that I’ll get ill again from overworking. I’m stuck in that mindset that if I don’t do work than I’m wasting my time. It really sucks but I’m trying to relax by taking bubble baths and the like, but it’s not working…

Hopefully I can find a method soon! Does anyone have anything they could recommend?

Until next Sunday ♡

Pastel Dreams & Inspirations

fairy kei gaijin gyaru

One thing I loved about this winter was that I stepped out of my comfort zone and wore pastel shades. I used to only wear dark shades for winter, but as the days are already dull it’s nice to add a spot of colour.
I went to Finland recently with my love and boy it was cold! There’s winter, and then there’s Finnish winter. Luckily I packed lots of fluffy sweaters and thermals – I don’t know how I would’ve survived otherwise! I’m hoping to do some more posts of my holiday in future but I might spread them out over the next couple of months.

This was one of my favourite outfits from my holiday, I felt like such an Easter bunny, so fluffy and cuddly! I was inspired by one of my outfits I put together in my One Outfit Five Ways post, but layered it up for the cold weather.

I’m quite sad that I won’t be able to wear fluffy sweaters anymore now that it’s getting warmer here in the UK, but I’m really keen on adding some more pastels to my spring & summer wardrobe! It’ll also allow me to try out different colours for makeup, taking inspiration from Fairy Kei. Fairy Kei and Gyaru is actually a really cute mix. Although I won’t go Fairy Kei all the way I just love the way they put their outfits together, so I took a trip to Tumblr and put together a small moodboard:

A perfect example of a gyaru doing this mix is Emika Kanda. She looks adorable!

I just can’t wait to try this out! It looks so fun and it’ll be nice to bring a bit more colour into my wardrobe and general makeup. I’ve been sticking to a lot of brown and black shades for my eyeshadow, so it’ll be nice to experiment with blues and pinks.

What styles do you like to mix with gyaru? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next Sunday! ♡

Kawaii Gyaru Shop Review: Lace & Ribbons

liz lisa, himekaji, winter

I can finally say that I’m now a himekaji gyaru. It sounds weird saying it like that – himekaji gyaru, it doesn’t really flow well but then again just saying “himekaji” sounds weird too. Like himekaji what, exactly? Oh well what I want to say is that I’ve finally accepted that himekaji might just be the style I’m looking for. It’s perfect for going out with friends and even for work which is all I seem to do these days!

But himekaji is still quite difficult for me in winter, so Stephanie suggested I try out this gorgeous red knit! I was going to go ahead with that when my eyes clapped on this equally gorgeous blouse. A couple of weeks later they arrived on my doorstep (you probably recognise these babies in my haul post). I swear it feels like Christmas every time I open a package – especially when I know there’s Liz Lisa inside. I couldn’t wait to wear everything!

First Impressions
Everything was packed neatly and she had even thrown in a pair of over-the-knee socks (pictured in my haul post) as well as a My Melody plushie which was really nice of her! The sweater was quite bulky but oh so soft, and the lace top that came with it was pretty. I was a bit worried as I’m not really into wearing lace without something underneath as my skin could get a bit irritated by it, so I made note of it for when I do wear it.
The blouse was beautiful but looked quite short – the lace part goes down to my waist where it is then just a layer of chiffon, so it might not be suitable to wear right now. It looks easy to wear though as it’s quite stretchy and very soft – I could probably bundle this up and it wouldn’t ruin it.

01 | The Red Knit

Oh my gosh it was SO WARM. It was perfect because it’s been quite cold over here in England and all I needed to wear was the lace vest that came with it underneath and I was fine. Normally my skin would get irritated if I don’t wear long sleeves but this one was okay – the knit was surprisingly soft. I just love the lace and ribbon details on the side and did I mention that it came with a lace vest? (We’re pretty much getting two items for one…) I’ve worn this a few times since Valentine’s day and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s battling those cold winter seasons. They also come in different colours which is amazing!

02 | The Floral Blouse
It took me a while to actually wear this blouse because it’s not really the right weather for it, so I waited until I went shopping with my friend Lee and I was right – it is still a bit too cold to wear it so I paired it with my white fluffy hoodie. My stomach kept getting cold because of the thinner material, so this blouse is definitely for those warm winter days. The sleeves also come up a bit short but not too short that I felt stupid which I think was helped by the fact that they were in the thinner material. Thank goodness for the elasticated cuffs! Nevertheless it is super cute. I just love the peter pan collar and the floral details on the blouse.

That’s all for now cuties! I hope you liked this post and that it fed your Liz Lisa-needs haha. Don’t forget to check out Kawaii Gyaru Shop for more awesome Liz Lisa (and many more brands!) and use my code LIZBEE if anything takes your fancy. Go on, treat yo’self.

Recent Gyaru Outfits: Jan – Feb

himekaji gyaru, lizzie bee

I’ve been aiming to do gyaru at least once a week ever since I entered the “real world”. So far so good – it makes me really look forward to my “dolling-up” days and I feel more motivated to do things when I make an effort to look good. How weird is that?

But my gyaru looks have really toned down as I haven’t attended any meets and all I have been doing lately is shopping, eating or just hanging out with my friends so I’ve never really had a reason to go all-out. I had promised myself never to tone down, but now I’ve come to terms with it and accepted it for what it is. That’s life I suppose.

Here are a few outfits I’ve done during January and February. My gyaru self is evolving as I started not giving a crap about fitting into a substyle and just doing what I want to do. My main focus is to wear whatever I want but then do gyaru makeup & hair. I think it’s better for me that way.

Oh My Sweet Days

I’m not really one for slouchy sweaters but I can’t get enough of this sweater. It’s not really the warmest thing in the world so I saved it for the warmest winter day before I could wear it. What I loved most about it were the little white bows – they looked so cute! I really liked my makeup that day even though I did what I usually did, but it somehow looks different? I don’t know, the mysteries of makeup.

Little Lamb

It’s still freezing here in the UK but because it’s been feeling more like Spring I wanted to wear something with Spring elements, and settled for lighter colours. I love this hoodie because it’s just so cosy, I felt like a little lamb!

Unicorn Princess

This was the first time I tried mixing up pastels, and oh my gosh I loved it! I never felt so magical and it was only emphasised with my unicorn necklace from Roxie Sweetheart. I can’t wait to wear pastels again – especially pinks and purples!

I had such a bad hair day and couldn’t for the life of me decide what to do with my hair but in the end I just went with soft curls. One day I’ll wear this outfit again but with bigger hair and heavier makeup. I need to experiment with pastel shades for my makeup!

One Item Five Ways: Missguided’s Fluffy Pink Skirt

I was looking through my blog when I realised that it’s been ages since I had done one of these posts, and I’m trying very hard not to splurge so I think it’s time for another one! I’m going to make it my goal to do one of these every month. Not only will this save me from spending but it’ll help me figure out how to make do with what I have.

This time I’m going to do five outfits with this gorgeous fluffy baby pink skirt from Missguided. Honestly I feel so barbie-like when I wear this, it’s amazing. The only downside to this skirt was that it got fluff everywhere – quite a lot of my clothes that this has been in contact with is covered with the stuff! Nevertheless it’s super cute, and I’m really glad that I bought it in the end as Missguided haven’t brought out any cute items since. Maybe one day…

Wear What You Love

gyaru styles, gaijin gyaru, lizzie bee

Ever get that feeling where you don’t really fit into a particular style? I’ve been feeling this for so long that it’s become normal for me. I have tried sticking to one style, but the more I told myself to do that, the more I rebelled against it until it got to a point where I was a chaotic mess. I just couldn’t make my mind up! I kept creating posts saying, “from now on I’m going to do X style!” But then I changed drastically almost as soon as I posted it. It was so annoying!

So now I’ve come to terms with what I truly am – a style chameleon. I’ve always known I was one but I didn’t really want to face it… Accepting this made me feel so much better! Don’t get me wrong, I do envy gyaru who strongly stick to one style and rock it, but that didn’t work out for me. Agejo was the only style that lasted more than a few days (it actually turned into a few years) and I’m still going strong with it but I tend to dabble with other styles every now and then.

Feeling Festive: Recent Gyaru Coords!

I’ve been in a rut in terms of Christmas spirit; I don’t know why, but I just don’t feel the cheer this year. I used to love Christmas but now I find myself enjoying Halloween more… It got to the point where I was so fed up with how I was feeling that I forced myself to dress up and go Christmas tree hunting. I haven’t actually bought a Christmas tree before (apart from my mini one which I got for £1 from Poundland) so I was totally unprepared. I ended up red-faced with stress but I managed to get one in the end. The final result was a beautiful pink and white tree, topped with some Hello Kitty baubles that I got as an early Christmas present from my boyfriend’s mum.

Setting up the tree jump-started my Christmas mood, and soon I was singing along to “Fairytale of New York” which really helped me get motivated to dress up for my first Christmas meal of the year! This is where I realised that I hadn’t actually bought a Christmas jumper, whoops. I made do by wearing fluffy things and my pompom hairbands

Fast-forward to a week later, I was getting more into the Christmas mood but I still had no jumper ^^” But I didn’t care, I wanted to dress up! Kawaii Gyaru Shop kindly sent me these adorable Santa-cat tights and I just had to wear them. They’re so so cute! I love them!

That’s all for today folks! I hope you’ve been feeling more Christmas-y than I have…

Hyper Japan’s Christmas Market 2015!

Secretly plotting to take this alpaca away…

I can’t believe it’s December already! I am so unprepared for this month – I’ve got tons of Christmas presents & decorations to buy and I’ve no idea what to get for everyone! It sucks… But I’m sure I’ll figure something out!

Speaking of Christmas… Last weekend I went to Hyper Japan’s Christmas Market! I’ve been looking forward to it for a long time – since their last one which I blogged about – but I didn’t know until a week beforehand that I made it onto the fashion show, so let’s just say that it was very last minute! It kind of annoyed me how unorganised they were but… I’ll talk about that later. The fashion show was okay in the end and even though I was only gyaru on stage I didn’t let it get me down because I was able to see all of my amazing friends ♡

Gyaru Nostalgia: Past, Present & Future

agejo gyaru, ma*rs gyaru, lizzie bee

It seems like my MA*RS/agejo hiatus is over! It’s been fun trying out different styles but I know now that I can’t stray too far from it. It’s a shame that the new MA*RS collection doesn’t appeal to me, so instead of just limiting myself to that brand I’m going to branch out and do more of a sweet agejo look! (Please note; the style “sweet agejo” doesn’t actually exist, I just like mixing agejo elements with cute looks) I tried it out whilst shopping with my friend Amy, and it brought back so many happy memories where I would wear MA*RS nearly every day…

One Item Five Ways: Tartan/Plaid Shirt

I’ve finally packed up my summer wardrobe and oh my gosh I can’t tell you enough how excited I was to start looking at autumn coordinates! I used to hate autumn, but now I’m so happy that it’s finally here. While I was going through my clothes I realised that it was time to do another “One item five ways” post, and today’s featured item is this tartan/plaid shirt from Primark!

Last week I went to Hyper Japan at the O2 and had an amazing time. I wasn’t too sure that I would’ve been able make it so everything was really last minute, but luckily I was still able to attend the fashion show. This did mean getting up at 6am to get ready, but some things are worth sacrificing for and I was way too excited to be tired anyway.

One Item Five Ways: MA*RS Skirt

I thought it was time to do another one of these posts as I’ve been very naughty recently and bought some new clothes! I know I probably shouldn’t have but I just couldn’t resist. I don’t regret it though, which is probably even worse…

This time I’ll be creating 5 outfits with one of my favourite MA*RS skirts! Agejo is my favourite style, and I want to make it wearable for all seasons, but this time I’m just focusing on summer outfits. So here goes!

Does anyone else here suffer from hayfever? I’m asking because I’m praying that I’m not the only one currently with tissue stuck up in their nostrils to stop it from overflowing (disgusting, I know). It’s gotten so bad this year, and it’s the main culprit of my messed up eye. But you’ll be happy to hear that my eye has finally healed! Yay!

I’ve taken a few pictures of my gyaru coords and makeup over the past few weeks but I didn’t take enough to make a blog post about each one, so I’m putting them all together in this post!

A New Direction? Mermaid Princess!

mermaid, princess, mahoukei, jfashion, kawaii

Life has been quite… Hectic for me lately. I’m going through an emotional roller-coaster at the moment which was triggered by my stupid eye. To cut the story short; my eye went poop and my self-esteem went down. Thank goodness I have really supportive friends! I don’t know what I would do without you peeps.

This has really affected the “gyaru me” because gyaru is very make-up orientated, but I took this chance to look at other Japanese fashion styles. I haven’t pinpointed the one I like yet but I’m loving pastels and mermaids and general magical stuff lately! I went shopping with my friend Amy last weekend and bought this super cute mermaid blouse & pastel pink jeans, and I wore it to her birthday party.

So here goes… A new me! (Maybe?) I’m calling this my mermaid princess look tehe.
