5th International Gyaru Lovers Meet!

It was the 5th international gyaru weekend last weekend and boy it was fun. There was lots of drinking, eating pizza, and karaoke and gosh it was awesome. I’m not much of a party person but it was so much fun!

Our weekend started when me, Chewiee and Sarah left the UK on Friday morning. We left really early because there were some delays on the underground, so it was like seeing some well-dressed zombies with suitcases trailing behind them. I, unfortunately, was ill so I was fully dosed up on pain killers (what timing eh?) Luckily the tube was okay and I had a bit of a nap on the flight there, and soon we were on our way to our hotel in Frankfurt. I’ve never been so relieved to see a hotel room before! We had a few hours to kill so we lazed around before putting makeup on. It was like watching a transformation from a caterpillar to a butterfly.

New Year’s UK Gal Meet 2016!

I can’t believe how cold it’s been over here lately! My wardrobe is not prepared for this kind of weather, so I guess that means I just have to buy more clothes (tehehe). Apparently it’s only going to get colder so fingers crossed that we might actually see a bit of snow over here.

Luckily it wasn’t so cold on the day of the New Year’s UK gal meet! It’s been ages since I’ve been to a meet, and I was so surprised to see how many people there were. I don’t feel so alone after all Could this mean that the UK gal scene is back? I really hope so! There were lots of new faces as well but it was so nice that people actually made the effort to meet up. I only wish that I was able to stay for more than one day because it would’ve been nice to spend more time getting to know each other. Maybe next time!

My Gyaru Nail Journey

gyaru nail art revolution

False nails are one of the coolest things when it comes to gyaru; every time I looked at pictures of gyaru back in the day I marvelled at how amazingly over-the-top they were. I am still in awe of their nails even today, and even though I can’t wear long nails because of work I still do my best to wear some pretty ones for special occasions.

I’m in the middle of gathering inspo for my next set of nails when I thought: why not show my gyaru nail journey? And here we are. It took me ages to find some pics but I managed!

All journey’s start with a pretty crap beginning, and mine was the crappiest of the crap pile. I was so embarrassed to discover this picture from all of those years ago but… I don’t know how I thought this was acceptable back them! They look horrid!

February 2012

After that I remember that it was posted on gyaru_secrets and that’s when I took the criticism with a locked jaw and worked my butt off to improve. Well, actually, that’s a bit of an exaggeration. I didn’t make nails for a long time afterwards until 2014 when I decided to pick it up again. I spent more time watching tutorials and experimenting on my own nails before making some again. This is where I actually made most of my nails, and I still wear them from time to time!

February 2014. Sad story – these nails were destroyed within a day because I just couldn’t get them off… Luckily I just recycled the design but with different colours

I am still a bit crap (wow I’m saying that word a lot in this post) when it comes to wearing them. I just can’t seem to do anything unless they are super short. But then I remember that short nails can look incredibly cute – check out one of my previous posts where I included pics of short nails {here}.

The moral of the story? Never give up. Keep on going because you will improve, I assure you! Look at where I started! I am glad that I didn’t give up completely after a little bit of criticism, because now I don’t have to spend money on a pretty set of nails.

Until next Sunday!

My Top 5 Gyaru Lashes!

gyaru false lashes, lashes collection, gaijin gyaru

You know that moment when you’re supposed to be tidying up but instead get distracted by everything you find? Well, I stumbled upon a whole pack of gyaru lashes that I had long forgotten about which led me to gathering every pack that I had left and putting them all on one pile. It was a huge pile, but despite all of the lashes I have I only use about 5 of them on a regular basis, and thus I was hit with the sudden inspiration to show you all my top 5 favourites!

Gyaru Nostalgia: Past, Present & Future

It seems like my MA*RS/agejo hiatus is over! It’s been fun trying out different styles but I know now that I can’t stray too far from it. It’s a shame that the new MA*RS collection doesn’t appeal to me, so instead of just limiting myself to that brand I’m going to branch out and do more of a sweet agejo look! (Please note; the style “sweet agejo” doesn’t actually exist, I just like mixing agejo elements with cute looks) I tried it out whilst shopping with my friend Amy, and it brought back so many happy memories where I would wear MA*RS nearly every day…

MCM Expo 2015!

I went to London MCM Expo last weekend for the first time in what seems like forever after having missed the one in May. I was really looking forward to it – to check out all of the amazing cosplayers and buy some merchandise, and to also visit my friends at their stalls. I’ve heard that it’s becoming busier by the year, and I kinda’ wished I listened to that because I ended up being such a zombie afterwards!

It was also my first time that I cosplayed! I usually go fully decked in gyaru for Expo but this time I decided to bite the bullet and cosplay one of my favourite characters – Wednesday Addams! It was a really last-minute decision, but I wanted to do something for Halloween and didn’t have any scary costumes. I had to practice pulling a moody face without cracking a smile… Thank you you to Chewiee for helping me out with this! Luckily I had it nailed for expo!

We got there pretty early so we just hung around outside for a little while, and I, for the first time, did cosplay photo shoots! I was so inexperienced and really didn’t know what to do, but the photographers were really patient ^/////^ I’ll create a new blog post as soon as they are online!

After the lil’ photoshoots we spent the rest of the day inside, trying to weave through the crowds. As you can see, I didn’t really take that many photos with the main reason being that it was packed. There were just so many people there that it was overwhelming, so I didn’t want to stick around for long. However I finally managed to meet my first ever internet friends, all in the same place at the same time! I squealed when I saw everyone I was just so happy. Hopefully I can see them all again one day!

However, I’m not too sure if I’ll go to the next expo because it was so exhausting, and I prefer Hyper Japan… But we’ll see! Until next time, cuties!

Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter

I finally did the thing; I went to Warner Bros. Studios aka the Harry Potter studios in London! It was one of the best days of my life, and I feel happy just thinking about it! Getting up at the crack of dawn was so worth it, and I thank whoever created makeup because it was a lifesaver for covering up how tired I actually felt. I channelled Ravenclaw vibes I opted for my blue dress and white pompoms for the Swankiss-inspired look. I’ve been obsessed with these hair ties lately, and I can definitely see myself wearing them more often.

Me, Myself & I

agejo gyaru, lizzie bee

Can you believe it’s nearly August already? Neither can I… I’m really happy though because I’m a summer baby, and I just wish it would stay sunny and warm here forever! But this is England we’re talking about, so of course that’s never going to happen.

Today’s post is going to be short and sweet where I ramble about whatever I can think of so that we can get to know each other better. It’s crazy because no matter how many years I’ve been blogging, I feel like I haven’t really opened up to you all yet aside from gyaru. So here goes… 15 things about me!

1. I am very emotional. It all started when I saw the film “Man on Fire”. I never used to shed a single tear when it comes to films but ever since I saw that one I seem to cry at everything that shows the slightest bit of emotional. I hate seeing people cry as it makes me cry too, especially when their voices crack. I just want to cuddle them! Being emotional has made me quick-tempered now too, but I calm down just as fast! I also get really defensive when it comes to my friends and family.

2. I always try to see the best in people. The amount of chances I give to people is countless, and I guess this makes me a bit of a pushover. I never listen to what other people say about each other because I think that it’s best to find out yourself. Most of the time it does work, but I’ve had had a few occasions where I wish I listened to those people instead of giving the bad people a chance to prove themselves.

3. I’m not actually that tall. I’m 165.6cm, which is pretty average! My long legs makes me look taller, especially when I wear heels!

4. I love makeup, but gosh it drives me crazy sometimes. My sensitive skin + makeup is never a good idea. I am in the middle of finding a solution for my puffy eyes that I get during hayfever season so that I could wear makeup more, but it’s a challenge.

5. Gyaru means the world to me. I have been so close to quitting as I haven’t had time to do it lately but I couldn’t leave it behind. I have made some of the closest friends because of gyaru and it has taught me so much… I don’t know what I would do without it! I love it so much that I actually created a post where I explain how much it has impacted my life.

6. I am amazing at pulling faces. Have you seen my photos? Well this post is a perfect example.

7. I love cats. Because cats.

8. I have so many goals and aspirations but just not enough time to do them. I want to keep practising French, pick up Chinese again, do more design work… If anyone has good ideas on time management or have learnt two languages at the same time, please let me know! I really want to achieve my goals

9. I am double-jointed. My hands can do these really weird things that freaks some people out but I think it’s pretty cool.

10. I am a geek at heart. I love learning about new things especially if it’s myths and legends! My favourites are the Ancient Greeks. They were pretty messed up, but the gods & goddesses were badass. I prefer reading children’s books than “adult” books.

11. I have a very short attention spam. This is the main reason I tend to juggle lots of things at once – if I was just concentrating on one thing I’ll get bored. Guess this is why I can never stick to one style  *cough* style chameleon *cough*.

12. I am allergic to exercise. I tried running to the train station once and got a massive cramp in my foot. Not cool.

13. My immune system is near non-existent. This is probably because I don’t exercise… I hate doing it so much and I’m always too tired to do it. If anyone knows of any quick exercises that I can do daily that would be great! Although preferably not ones where I would lose weight.

14. I am a sucker for cute underwear. For some reason whenever I wear cute underwear it makes me feel really cute? Like a magical girl or something? Strange.

15. Despite everything, I’m an extremely shy person. I always worry about whether or not people will like me which makes me panic a little. Like when I went to the International Gyaru Meet I was so nervous because I thought I might annoy everyone and they won’t like me, but the people there were the nicest and funniest people I’ve ever met

And that’s all for today! I hope you liked this post. It was hard trying to think of 15 things…

See you next Sunday!

Hyper Japan Summer 2015!

Last week I went to Hyper Japan at the O2 and had an amazing time. I wasn’t too sure that I would’ve been able make it so everything was really last minute, but luckily I was still able to attend the fashion show. This did mean getting up at 6am to get ready, but some things are worth sacrificing for and I was way too excited to be tired anyway.

2015 So Far

I can’t believe that it’s already halfway through the year… When I thought about this the other day I started to panic because I felt like I haven’t achieved anything at all. But then I realised that I made some big steps, and I wanted to write a blog post to remind myself that I’m doing okay and that I have achieved quite a lot of things so far.

So what have I done so far this year?
