And, Breathe

kawaii fashion, hello kitty onesie, Modes4U

Life passes by so quickly that sometimes it’s nice to just take a step back for a moment, breathe, and then think, “what the hell just happened?!” I was having one of those moments the other day where I was feeling overwhelmed by everything that’s been going on and almost had a complete meltdown… But as if by some magical force, my package from Modes4u* arrived a week later which contained a super cute Rilakumma cup. So I scheduled a time out, slipped into my onesie and made myself some hot chocolate with marshmallows.

And here we are. So, let’s have a little catch-up, shall we?

I’ll Take You To The Candy Shop… Japan Candy Box Review!

Japanese sweet, Japan Candy Box, yummy candy

One of the best things about Japan are the sweets, so when Blippo’s Japan Candy Box* for September arrived at my doorstep I was bursting with excitement. I was good, though, and didn’t immediately open it but waited for the weekend to arrive before I gently lifted up the lid to take a peek inside and boy there was a lot of candy. There was no way I could eat all of it! So I asked my other half to help me out and we spent the afternoon chomping on all of these sweet goodies.

There’s a time in everyone’s life where they dabbled in a bit of magic. I was just starting out in secondary school (so around 13 years old) when a sparkly blue cover caught the corner of my eye, and upon pulling it out from where it was crammed on the library shelf I discovered that it was a beginner’s guide to white magic (aka Wicca). It didn’t take me long to check it out and for several months after I was obsessed with it when, like the typical teenager I was, I got bored and it was left to gather dust on my bookshelf.

The Secret’s Out… The Canal House

The Canal House, Birmingham, James Brindley, flaming cocktails

I’ve “levelled up” in my blogging career in the sense that I attended my first launch event with my DSLR in hand, like the true blogger that I am. I was so nervous; what if people didn’t like it that I took pictures with them in it? What if they thought I was a weirdo? These thoughts were swiftly brushed aside as I approached The Canal House.

And boy, it was huge.

Blippo Surprise Kawaii Bag and Giveaway

Blippo surprise kawaii bag

Isn’t life so much better when you receive cute things? That’s how I felt when ‘Blippo Surprise Kawaii Bag’* turned up on my doorstep, and I just couldn’t wait to show you all what I got. Unlike their Kawaii Box, this bag doesn’t involve any subscribing which is great for people like me who don’t really want regular boxes, but who loves treating themselves to kawaii goodies every now and then. Blippo has also been very lovely and has given me another bag to give away, so please scroll down to the bottom of this post to enter!

In the meantime, let’s have a look at what was in my lucky pack (also known as fukubukuro in Japan)…

Creating Memories with Printiki

printiki, polaroid print, lizzie bee, review

You’d think that after two years of moving house that I would have some wall art, but noooope. I just never had the time to and instead just shared photos on Instagram. But I really miss printing out photos like my parents did back in the day, so when Printiki* sent over a message asking if I’d like to print out some photos with them I was like, “HELL YES”. It actually took me longer to pick my photos than it did to process my whole order, and within a few days my package arrived neatly on my doorstep.

Summertime Dreaming

summertime dreaming, kawaii gyaru shop review

I got this Liz Lisa dress from Kawaii Gyaru Shop* late last year as a little ‘welcome’ gift to when summer finally comes around. I waited for what seemed like ages, and the weather slowly began to pick up but it still wasn’t warm enough until finally we hit the end of May and it was time to wear it. It was Sod’s Law that I began to notice things that I would’ve changed in this outfit; like the fact I had a hair bobble on my wrist instead of pearl bracelets, and that this outfit would probably look super cute with a boat hat and with my hair in plaits instead of waves. I think it’s generally the life of a fashion blogger to notice these things, but at least I’ll be more prepared when I wear this again in future!

Good as Gold: Lush “Golden Wonder” Gift Box Review

Lush golden wonder gift box, bath bombs

Aah Lush, why can’t I get enough of you? In all fairness I had been good and have avoided buying Lush for a few months now, but then I received this beauty “Golden Wonder” as a Christmas present and it makes me want to buy more! Inside were two bath bombs, one called Golden Wonder and the other Star Dust. It made me feel heavenly just looking at the label.

There wasn’t really much of a description for the Golden Wonder bath bomb, but the Star Dust is a “soothing vanilla mixed with fragrant rosewood”. I had very high expectations for both of them – especially the Golden Wonder – and I accidentally managed to get some gold glitter on my camera, oops.

Caw, Caw, Ravenclaw

I don’t care what anyone else says, they can make as many Harry Potter related films as they want and I’ll be happy. Who cares if it’s a money-making-machine? J.K Rowling is as magical as her books, I adore the world of witches and wizards, so any excuse to be absorbed into it is good for me. Reading Harry Potter is just perfect for winter – I can snuggle up in bed with a cup of hot chocolate and I’m satisfied. It’s a bonus if I can do that in front of a toasty fire, but seeing as I don’t have one… hot chocolate will do.

Kawaii Box Review and Giveaway!

kawaii box, unboxing, gyaru, gaijin gyaru

“Life is like a box of kawaii goodies… You never know what you gonna’ get” is what sprung to mind when Kawaii Box landed on my doorstep. A couple of weeks prior to this event, they had reached out to me to do a sponsored review for them, and how could I resist? Get cute stuff in the post? Why not! Fast forward to the time when it came to unravelling the goodies, I can happily say that I am completely satisfied. The service was amazing, the box was cute, the stuff in the box was also cute… Need I say more?

Beauty Reviews: NYX, Urban Decay & Too Faced

NYX, Urban Decay, Too Faced, beauty, beauty review

I first learnt about contouring when I found out about gyaru nearly 5 (or perhaps 6) years ago. Little did I know that it would become a huge part of my makeup routine – now I wouldn’t dream about wearing makeup without it.

But I was getting bored. Truth is, I’ve been using the same type of contouring palette over the past few years because I got comfortable with Sleek. Now every brand has one, so there’s a lot to choose from! On my shopping trip with Fii & Han I found this NYX contouring palette, and what attracted me the most was that it was refillable, had so many shades and was cruelty-free! I’ve been tracking down cruelty-free brands (as mentioned in a previous blog post) and a few weeks prior I picked up some lipsticks from Urban Decay and received another from Too Faced for my birthday.

Lhouraii’s Nails: Sailor Moon Gyaru Nails Review!

lhouraii false nails, sailor moon, gyaru nails

I’ve finally been able to purchase some false nails and what better than a set of Sailor Moon ones? My outfit itself for Hyper Japan wasn’t particularly exciting so I wanted to jazz it up with accessories, and as soon as I saw it on Lhouraii’s instagram I knew I had to get it. I always feel more gyaru when wearing nails, especially if they’re long and pretty!

Unfortunately I am terrible with false nails so I only wear them for special occasions, and I haven’t had the time to design my own nails lately. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Lhouraii’s nails and a couple of my friend’s have purchased from her before so I thought I’d give it a try. Luckily she offers both long and short versions – all I had to do was send her a little message and she sorted it all out for me.

Round & Round like a Horse on a Carousel…

liz lisa carousel dress

It’s amazing how your clothes can affect your mental and physical state; as soon as I put on a cute dress I suddenly feel very positive and princess-y, and that’s exactly how I felt when I put on my new Liz Lisa dress from Kawaii Gyaru Shop*. Gosh I can’t tell you how in awe I am of it – I mean, look at that print! Let’s all just take a moment to appreciate how beautiful it is.

All of my Liz Lisa is beautiful but this one has by far topped it. Sorry, my other Liz Lisa clothes, but it looks like I’m going to try and wear this as many times as I can. Luckily it’s been getting so hot in the UK so hopefully that will happen!

One of my best friend’s, Amy, was having a birthday tea party and I just couldn’t resist wearing this dress. I mean come on, a tea party, you can’t get anymore princess-y than that. I kept my fingers crossed that it wouldn’t rain and luckily it didn’t, and I had such a great day. We drank tea, ate scones with jam and cream, and took lots of photos! I actually prefer these kind of gatherings to the partying type – I just get so exhausted with all that drinking that I’ll only last an hour at a nightclub. Oops.

Dress: Liz Lisa via Kawaii Gyaru Shop (discount code: LIZBEE) / Accessories: Claire’s Accessories & Primark / Heels: Sweet Soul Shop

It feels like ages since I had the chance to relax. Life has been hectic lately and I can feel myself running into exhaustion because I just can’t stop working. Even outside of work I find myself drawing for my 100 day project and I’m worried that I’ll get ill again from overworking. I’m stuck in that mindset that if I don’t do work than I’m wasting my time. It really sucks but I’m trying to relax by taking bubble baths and the like, but it’s not working…

Hopefully I can find a method soon! Does anyone have anything they could recommend?

Until next Sunday ♡
