My Christmas Bucket List!

One of my favourite things outside of gyaru is the holiday season! And this year I seem to be 10000x more enthusiastic about Christmas. Just the thought of eating yummy Christmas food (helloooooo pigs in blankets) and spending time with my family just fills me with so much joy! Obviously things are going to be a little different this year (cheers, Covid) but I’m going to try my best to stay positive! So I’ve decided to put together a little Christmas bucket list that I want to tick off before the clock strikes on December 25th. Let’s go!

Decorate the living room

I don’t really put many Christmas decorations up other than the tree, but this year I want to decorate the whole living room (or maybe the whole house…?) I also want to film a YouTube video for it so I’ll link it here when I do. Edit – I’ve actually ticked this one off, woohoo! And yes, I did also film a video which you can watch here.

Bake gingerbread biscuits

I’ll tell you a secret… I used to hate gingerbread *shock horror gasp*. I KNOW. Awful. But now I bloody love it! Baking gingerbread cookies doesn’t seem too difficult according to google, so I’d love to give that a go. Edit – done this one too! You can watch my attempt here.

Create Christmas purikura

The best thing about lockdown is the amount of purikura that gals are creating! It just brings back those old-school vibes and reminds me of the days we would cram ourselves in a photo booth and decorate our purikura with lots of sparkles.

Attend a (virtual) Christmas gal meet!

Christmas doesn’t feel the same without going to a gal meet, and even though it’s going to be pretty impossible to do this year, I really hope that there will be a virtual one!

Buy Christmas gifts from a small business

More and more people are buying from small businesses which is amaaaazing! I’ve always tried my best to buy at least a couple of presents as possible from small businesses (especially because I used to be a small business!) but this year I want to go even further and aim to buy all Christmas presents from small businesses. Wish me luck (and please link your favourite small business below to give them some love!)

Create a Christmas playlist

Another confession – I’m not a huge fan of Christmas playlists. Yep, I said it. This year I want to try and create my own so that it only plays my favourite music and not the Destiny’s Child “8 Days of Christmas” (sorry Beyonce I love you).

Go to a local Christmas market/festival

Yep, I know, this might not happen this year but I’d love to even attend a virtual Christmas market! This kind of links in to my previous statement about wanting to support small business.

Things I want to tick off my Christmas bucket list

Drink lots of hot chocolate (with whipped cream and marshmallows)

I loooooove hot chocolate. Love. It. Once upon a time I used to buy the lovely Lindt hot chocolate from Costa and I couldn’t get enough of it.

Roast chestnuts on an open fire

Not too sure how achievable this is seeing as we don’t have an open fire, but a girl can dream!

Donate

‘Tis the season to be grateful and also donate the clothes that you’ve hidden in the back of your wardrobe that you’ve promised to wear but never did. And if you haven’t got any spare clothes, why not donate some cash to a local charity?

Watch lots of cheesy Christmas films

Love, Actually, anyone? I’m a sucker for cheesy chic flicks and Christmas films are notorious for them. I’ve ticked off watching Jingle Jangle already and it’s such a lovely film!!! Would highly recommend it.

Take part in Vlogmas

I am obsessed with creating YouTube videos at the moment (here’s a link to my channel if you’re interested!) and would love to take part in Vlogmas. Doing it every day does seem to be a bit too much, however, but I really want to dedicate the whole of December to releasing Christmas-themed content.

Eat traditional Christmas food

Okay so.. This is kind of crazy but… I hate mince pies. There, I said it. BUT I did try them a very long time ago so maybe my taste buds have changed? Anyway, I’d love to try and eat more traditional Christmas food like Christmas pudding, Stollen, eggnog, etc etc.

Write up all of my Christmas cards

Who else leaves writing Christmas cards until the very last minute? Yep, same. But this year is going to be different and I’m going to be super organised!

Christmas at Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria, Germany

That’s all I can think of for now but I’ll be adding more to this list later on!

What’s on your Christmas bucket list?

Love,
Lizzie xx

I’m also really hoping to have a virtual meetup! Since I won’t be seeing everyone special to me this year. Eating traditional Christmas food is a really good one too! X

I love your list. I think donating is a great idea! I’ve never made my own gingerbread men before so this will be something new to try this year.

Aw! This is such a fun list 🙂 I do most of these too and love December so much!! xo

  • I love this list! I’m definitely also watching tons of cheesy Christmas movies and eating loads of traditional Christmas foods, but I didn’t know that virtual Christmas markets are a thing – that’s so cool! I also definitely plan to do a ton of goofy dancing around my apartment to overly peppy Christmas music this season, especially because we’re not decorating this year (since our baby might arrive over the holidays and then the decorations would stay up way too long, plus it’s always a bit of an effort with our very curious cats).
