Gyaru Outfit Diaries: Malta, Baby!

Helloooo sunny beaches, palm trees and crystal-clear waters. I’m not usually one for going on a summer holiday (I don’t cope well with mosquito bites and the blistering sun) but Malta was absolutely perfect. My friend Amy and I went in late May which was, I felt, the ideal time for exploring as it wasn’t crazy hot but was still sunny. This meant that I packed quite a few outfits as I knew I wanted to have at least two outfits per day, so here’s my Malta outfit diaries.

Cute and Comfy

jeans: forever21 / top: primark / trainers: new look / suitcase: ted baker

It was going to be a long day traveling, and so I skipped out on wearing makeup and put my hair up in a plait so that it could be crimped for the next day. I went for something cute and comfy and coordinated quite well with my beloved Ted Baker suitcase. Tip: go with hand-luggage if you’re only doing a weekend away as it’ll save you a lot of time as you don’t need to wait for your luggage!

Chillin’ with Bay

top: my sister’s wardrobe (I can’t remember soz) / shorts + bag: primark / trainers: new look

The first thing we did when we landed in Malta was scout for the nearest restaurant, and soon we were out enjoying the last rays of the sunshine whilst chomping away on some delicious bruschetta. I couldn’t be bothered to whack on some makeup, but I did make an effort to put on something cute, and luckily bagged this gorgeous top from my sister’s wardrobe before I left (tehe!)

Palm Leaves and Calm Seas

bikini: pretty little thing

We were really worried about our first full day in Malta, but the sun broke out of the clouds just as we settled on our sunbeds in Comino Island, pineapple cocktails in hand. It was a wonderful mixture of relaxation and making a fool of ourselves as Amy and I sang Moana across the sea to one another. Terrible singing, but singing all the same. I felt extremely self-conscious at first but, as I wrote in a past thought post, I took the leap and flaunted my snazzy bikini (that I actually stole from my sister *lol soz*) despite my previous qualms of having a smaller bust. Livin’ that body positivity life!

Pink Sunsets

maxi dress: rady / heels: quiz / belt: ebay / necklace: new look

We decided to chill out in the evening, and spent it wandering along the coast of St. Paul’s Bay. The sky was absolutely beautiful with its pinkish hues, and provided the perfect scene with the pastel-coloured houses. I couldn’t believe the sheer contrast between each house; one could be absolutely immaculate where its neighboring building is in ruins, half-built.

Mdina and Me

top: boohoo / shorts: primark / sunglasses: accessorize / accessories: probs ebay

We woke up and set off to Mdina in the early morning, one of Malta’s historic cities and it was absolutely beautiful. It also happened to be where they filmed some scenes of the first series of Game of Thrones, and we sought them out as soon as we arrived. We found the King’s landing gate, Littlefinger’s brothel, and the fountain where Ned confronted Cersei about her children. If GoT is your thing, read Amy’s post about GoT Mdina over here!

Tropical Florals

I don’t know about you, but I’m loving old school gyaru vibes atm (minus the tan because I’m pale af, but maybe one day!) so I had major heart eyes when I saw this maxi for £8 on boohoo. I mean, what a bargain! The only thing is that it was pretty hard to walk in so I just wore it when we went out for dinner. I want to wear this again though with a deep tan and maybe manba makeup! (Check out my blog post of my manba attempt – it was so much fun to do!)

That’s all for today! Which outfit is your favourite?

Love,
Lizzie xx
