Hello, Lizzie Bee

Hey honey bunny, it’s me, your gal Lizzie. It’s been a while since I first made my introduction post – over 8 years, I think – so an update has been waaaaay overdue. I mean, sure, I blog a lot and talk about myself quite a bit (especially about my self doubts) but I think it’s time to re-introduce myself to you.

So hey, I’m Lizzie Bee, and I’m a gyaru fashion and lifestyle blogger from the UK.

Yep, I’m still blogging about gyaru.

I didn’t realise how much in love I was with it until I found myself still writing about it, 8 years later. 8 years is a bloody long time but I love every minute of it. Gyaru has changed so much since I started and even though I told myself that I would never tone down, I did. It’s nothing to be sad about though – I’m finally comfortable with my style and I love it. I’m actually in the process of doing a complete wardrobe clear out to invite new pieces in and stop being stuck in the past. It’s tough, but it’s got to be done.

What’s also tough is trying not to eat a Milka & Oreo chocolate bar that’s been sitting on your desk for at least 3 minutes. I just can’t seem to let anything sweet and sugary pass me untouched! I am known as that person that eats their weight in snacks (which is great because it means that people always give me snacks at work), and my food cupboard at home is always full for when we have guests around. I just love snacking! My future self would probably kill me for saying that later on, but for now I’m happy.

I also love naps, have I ever told you that? I usually have a nap on a Sunday and it’s one of the things that I look forward to most on a weekend. People say that a 2-hour long nap is probably too long, and as much as I’d like to disagree I think my grouchy just-woke-up self would say otherwise. Luckily my hubby knows how to deal with me! It comes second to my love for afternoon tea, though, because afternoon tea is my jam and one of my favourites was when I went to Biscuiteers to meet an old uni friend.

Oh yes, that brings me to my next and final thing – I am now married! You know that guy I talked about a few times on this blog? Yep, I’m his wifey for lifey. Gosh that’s such a cringe saying but it’s my favourite, and I love saying it every now and then. Wife. A person with a ring on her fourth finger. I still love looking back at my wedding blog post because it’s one of the best posts I’ve ever written. It has so many happy vibes and I love it.

Afternoon tea

So, what’s your story?

Love,
Lizzie xx

Oh my gosh, you’re so wrong! Jam first because if you put cream into jam the jam spoils! :O

Ah I guess so! But I find it so much easier to spread jam on top of cream than the other way around ;D

I love posts that let you get to know bloggers a bit more! Amazing that you have graduated! I would love to do Graphic Design! I haven’t heard of ‘gyaru ‘ before which I am really surprised about seeing as I love Japan and currently writing my dissertation all about female representations in Japan, and I am guessing Gyaru is similar to Kawaii? (please do correct me if I am wrong!!). I really do LOVE your outfit/look though, you look like you have came straight off the streets of Harajuku and I am so here for it!! xxx

Awh yay, I’m so glad you have!
Oh my gosh really?! That’s so amazing! Gyaru was huge in the 90s and was a rebellion against the beauty standards in Japan; where girls would tan their skin and dye their hair crazy colours instead of adopted the pale-skin-dark-hair look. You should totally check it out! It isn’t really ‘kawaii’ as such but it has so many substyles, and I tend to go for the cuter, softer versions. Thank you so much for your lovely comment! xxx

That’a crazy that you’ve been blogging for so long!! Well done for keeping it up ? I found myself nodding along with a lot of this – I’m also a big fan of napping and afternoon tea! Then I always find that I feel as if I need a nap when I’ve had an afternoon tea ?
Aww I hope that you and your husband are very happy!

Gosh yes, afternoon tea can make you so sleepy! I think it’s all of the cakes that are involved.
And we are, thank you so much!

8 years is sooo long! It makes me really happy that you’re still loving it after this long. You’ve got me thinking now and I don’t think I ever made an intro post which sounds silly now. I wonder how many people have been with you since your first one? This was such a nice way to do a life update kind of post too x

Wow, it’s been that long already?! I remember finding your blog just a couple of years after you started and followed you since. It’s really awesome to see how a person grows over the years!

I also love eating sweets! I can get full from my main meal but somehow always find room for dessert? xD

Ahhhh congrats on both your job and wedding! I still have yet to achieve those two dreams. T^T My job hunting has been poop. And my fiance and I have been engaged for over a year now cause I’m trying to get moved out to where he is! (And trying to get the courage to tell my family too)

I should do a post like this too. I changed blogs so I think it’s time xD
