Japan Candy Box ‘Sweet Summer Fruits’ Collection + Giveaway!

Disclaimer: this is a gifted post because YAY SWEETS. Thanks Japan Candy Box!

Okay so I’m in heaven right now: I’m currently chomping away on some rice crackers as I write this post, and I can’t guarantee there would be any left by the time I hit “publish” (or, to be more accurate, “schedule”). Yep, I’m back again with another review of Japan Candy Box* and this time I’m having a lil’ taste of their Summer Fruits Collection! I’m also doing a giveaway with them so scroll to the bottom of this post to win some Japanese candies. Right, now let’s have a look at what I’ve been munching on…

Japan Candy Box review by hellolizziebee
Flatlay of cute Japanese sweets

Puré Green + Gold Kiwi Gummy

“OMG GUMMIES” was the first thing I thought when I opened this box as I love Pure. It’s quite a premium brand so it isn’t bursting with gummies, but provides just the right amount.

Glico Pretz Extra Crisp Basil + Olive (similar here)

As soon as I opened this I was hit with a waft of something cheesy, although upon closer inspection it’s actually basil and olive flavoured so nothing cheesy in sight. I was kind of turned off by the smell, though, so I had my mum try it out (tehe) and she LOVED it. I told her to take the pack home with her in the end.

Salty Lemon Kakipi Rice Crackers + Peanuts

These were tasty! Strange, but tasty. Inside there’s an assortment of nuts and crackers with a slight lemon taste. These were right up my street as even though I am more of a savoury girl, I love a bit of flavour, and that’s exactly what these crackers delivered. I ate half of the pack when writing this post!

Markawa Crushed Ice Cola Bubble Gum

This was quite normal in terms of taste in comparison to the rest of the box, and my taste buds were relieved as I chomped (and popped) away after devouring the other items. The cola flavour didn’t last very long but I liked the little bits that it had inside.

Fortune Telling Strawberry Milk Candies (similar here)

I was so tempted to pop all of these and just eat it in one go! They’ve got quite a hard shell but you can easily crunch it.

Kabaya Fruit Can Gummies (similar here)

These weren’t as sweet as I’d expected and didn’t have as strong an orange flavour I thought they’d have, but I took these to my Dungeons & Dragons session and they went down a treat (tehe). I wouldn’t choose to buy this in future though as I like something with a bit more flavour.

Fruit Forest Mochi Candy

I ignored the stick when I dived into this and these candies are definitely one of my favourites from this pack. They – as the name suggests – had a really strong mochi flavour and I friggin’ love mochi, so these were right up my street! I was thankful that it came with the edible plate though as it was nice to nibble on something savoury after devouring all of the sweets.

Ginbis Ginza Rusk White Vanilla

This, as one of my friends puts it, was like eating ‘ice cream on top of a crunchy wafer’. It was so delicious! It reminded me of one of the treats I had over Christmas and something I could happily eat again.

Yaokin Long Chu Grape Taffy

This was by far my favourite sweet from the pack. It reminded me of puccho sweets (my favourite Japanese sweet) but longer – which was perfect! It was a bit harder to chew than puccho but I didn’t mind as it tasted so good.

Yaokin Strawberry Roll Candy

Pretty much the Japanese version of Fruit Winders although with a lot thicker and a bit more flavour!
