It’s my bby Amy’s birthday party coming up so I want to take this chance to do Jirai Kei properly, which is why I decided to do an inspiration post which I can use as reference for when I do the makeup/hair/overall look. To be honest, I’m really excited… Don’t get me wrong; I love gyaru with my heart and soul but I also want to try something different every now and then.
What is Jirai Kei?
This Jfashion wiki explains it in a lot more detail but Jirai roughly translates to “landmine-type” which derives from “jirai onna”, a derogatory term to describe girls that look as if they have an emotional breakdown at any moment. It’s really not a nice phrase, but these girls took it and turned it onto its head and it evolved into the jfashion that we know of today (a darker girly style).

Jirai Kei Inspiration
With that brief explanation out of the way, here is some inspo I’ve gathered! I’ve done my best to credit each person.

It looks like my dark hair will be an advantage with this jfashion style haha

Jirai Kei Makeup
The makeup is one of the things I’m most interested in as I want to do it as part of the makeup challenges I do on my YouTube channel!
