That Time I Hiked Up Mt Fuji (Kind Of)

Posted on February 4, 2021

Hey cutie! How are you today? So the other weekend my husband and I climbed up Mt Fuji!!!!!

Haha, just kidding.

Yes, unfortunately, because of lockdown we have to put our Japan and South Korean travel plans on hold… But thank goodness Arigato Japan exists because we were able to go on a virtual tour of Mt Fuji with them! It was incredibly educational; Jordan, our guide, was so knowledgeable and incredibly patient (and I’m surprised he didn’t look at me strangely as I was basically a burrito in a blanket haha).

(BTW – I guess this is kind of a “gifted” post????? We did our tour for free in return to do a survey buuuut I wanted to write this blog post so I don’t know what the technicalities are for that haha soz).

But like… Who are Arigato Japan?

I mentioned Arigato Japan in passing on my gift guide for gals vlog, but Arigato Japan arrange lots of lovely food tours in places like Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Osaka. But, obviously, with the world being in a Covid lockdown they couldn’t really do these tours anymore… So, instead, they host virtual Japan tours!

And what was the (virtual) tour of Mt Fuji like?

SO. GOOD.

It was mind-blowing to hear just how significant Mt Fuji is to Japanese culture (and Jordan even played a little children’s song about it). A wise woman once said that if she’s facing any difficulties she just remembers that at that moment, someone is climbing Mt Fuji. If only I remembered her name so that I could credit her! But it’s a wonderfully positive way to think about things because the hike is *whistles* PHEW, BOY.

My hubby’s favourite part of the tour was when Jordan talked about what the local cuisine was like and, not going to lie, the Sakura Shrimp looks simply DELICIOUS (especially when it’s all deep fried together and… Oh gosh, I’m drooling!).

We also learnt how they actually grow Wasabi and I’m not going to give away too many details but growing and caring for them is INTENSE.

All in all, we really enjoyed our experience with Arigato Japan and I really want to do a virtual tour of Shinjuku and Shibuya with them!

I wanted to quickly share my make and outfit for that day! I went for a more casual look, although… I’m really not too sure about it. But hey ho, at least I tried something different!

Have you ever done a virtual tour before?

And that’s all for today!

p.s. I want to give a lil’ shoutout to my wonderful friend, Nele, for introducing me to Arigato Japan!

Never did a virtual, but if I was doing it would be on a big screen or with Google lenses, you put your phone in that little box and put it on the front of your eyes, I will do a virtual tour like that but not on my computer screen is too small.

That’s pretty awesome! I didn’t even know that was a thing! I would like to do it too in some spots in Japan. And I love your coord. It’s really cute and reminds me of old himekaji days~
