As much as I hate how saturated inspirational quote are, sometimes I can’t help but feel like they’re the only thing that can get me through a difficult day. It really is a love/hate relationship! There are a few quotes, however, that I can’t bring myself to hate no matter how hard I try. I call them my life mantras.

“Try and make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious, and however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do, and succeed at. It matters that you don’t just give up”
– Stephen Hawking
How can a little blogger like me in such a big blogging world? How can I possibly think of pursuing (hobby) in my spare time when there are already so many others doing the same, but better? Well, I can tell you from experience that giving up your passion simply because of how saturated a market is is a crazy idea. There is no one quite like you out there; even if we all wrote about the same topic we have our individual voices that make it different. Never give up on your voice!
“To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance”
– Oscar Wilde
The path to self-love is difficult, but so rewarding. It’s the best kind of love you could ever experience and it doesn’t necessarily have to be big gestures. Something like just looking into the mirror and being happy with the way your hair looks or treating yourself to a nice cup of hot chocolate from Costa is enough.
“Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional”
– Chili Davis
You’re only as old as you feel! Don’t let anything hold you back from doing the things you love, even if society deems you “too old” for it. If there’s one thing that I’ve learnt about Baddie Winkle – she’s 89 and she’s killin’ it! – is that you can never be too old for anything. Plus, I want to be as fabulous as her when I grow up!
“Done is better than perfect”
– Sheryl Sandberg
The other week I discovered that I had 59 drafts on my blog – yep, 59. The thing that made this draft count so high was that I was held back by the thought that they weren’t perfect and didn’t bring any value to my blog. Well, as I have written in a previous post, I want to scratch that mindset because done is better than perfect.
“You can’t please everyone, and you can’t make everyone like you”
– Katie Couric
Boy I wish I had listened to quote when I first approached the internet and the online gyaru community. I tried so hard to fit in and get on with everyone but life isn’t that simple. People ended up not liking me for no reason at all and it was out of my control… I absolutely hated it. I started to blame myself and kept asking, “what is wrong with me? Why don’t like me?” and tried to figure every way possible to get people to like me but it was exhausting. That time spent trying to please those who didn’t like me could’ve been spent on those who truly cared about me. But I’ve learnt my lesson now; it’s so much better focusing in on a few people who love you than try to please those who don’t.
What are your favourite quotes? The ones you live by?

I love the 3rd, it could be one of mine! I use to post all my favorite quotes on my IG and since a few time, I post them here too! You can already find 2 of my favorites on my page! It’s often about creativity and being different! One super short and simple I love is from Marylin Monroe : « being normal is boring ! » lol! And also, « it’s better to be hated for who you are then to be loved for who you are not » it’s from Marylin too… and one of my favorite ever : « creativity is intelligence having fun » from Albert Einstein. There are more quotes which inspire me on my Insta!

This is such a well written post. I especially love this one “You can’t please everyone, and you can’t make everyone like you”… So true!
Your photographs are gorgeous by the way 🙂

Great mantras to live by. Loving yourself is sooo important. It’s the best basics for good relationships with others, because then you will shine as your true self.
And I can really relate to never giving up your passion either. Blogging is too great to give up. It’s a space in which you can show your voice.
My favourite sayings are by Albert Einstein. “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity” I always remember that when I have a hard time. Even in hard times there are so many valuable things to learn and new starts to make from there.
The other: “Everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish by it’s ability to climb a tree, it will end up believing it’s stupid” It reminds me that everybody has their own unique talents, and we shouldn’t judge others on our expectations of them.
Great post hun 🙂

I 100% agree, done is better than perfect because perfection is always a waste of time and is also – i think – very boring since there is not more room for improvement.

What an amazing post ? I totally agree with what you say about focusing on those who love you rather than trying to please the ones who don’t. I love these quotes, my mantras that I love are “everything happens for a reason” and “what if I fall? Oh my darling, what if you fly?”
Gorgeous photos, you look beautiful!

Girl, I love this kind of entries! I feel like they’re something I needed to read/hear today. I wish somebody told me the one about not focusing of others not liking you too. It really held me back a long time from posting things in the gal comm, since whenver I produced content it would end up in g_s… And for that, too, I have almost the same amount of drafts as you that I never posted, because I felt they were not that good. Same goes with vlogs I filmed and edited and never posted. Gosh. Thank you so much for this entry, it made me feel a lot of things~~~

I love the Stephen Hawking quote! I couldn’t agree more that as a blogger we are surrounded by so many amazing other bloggers, and it’s hard to get your posts out there. But, if you enjoy this hobby and find it to be a passion, there is absolutely no reason to give up no matter how difficult it can be at times. I just shared 30 quotes that I live by on my blog as well!

Have courage and be kind.
It is so simple but it really feels very powerful and embodies all I try to be x

I’m totally the same – some “inspirational” quotes I absolutely hate but I always look through Pinterest and pin them every single morning! They provide a lot of comfort sometimes. I love all these but I think my all-time favourite one is,
“You are entirely up to you” <3
