Trick or Treat! October Japan Candy Box Review + Giveaway

Posted on October 24, 2019October 23, 2019

Trick or treat? Or, in our case, treat or treat? Yep, this post is gonna’ be about the October edition of the Japan Candy Box! If there’s one thing I love about Halloween, it’s all of the sweets/candy, especially themed sweets. The packaging is always adorable so I was really excited to see what was included in this month’s box which was kindly given to me by Japan Candy Box to review. I’ve also collaborated with them to give one of these to you FOR FREE (amazing). Are you ready? Let’s take a peek…

Black Thunder Halloween Chocolate Bar

I was really intrigued by this chocolate bar, as I haven’t tried Japanese chocolate (other than flavoured kitkat) and this one reminded me of Penguin chocolate bars. I really liked it and even though I thought it was a bit small at first, it’s quite chocolately so ended up being the perfect size. 3/5

Pokemon Halloween Party Chocolate Snack

Pika pika! I think this is by far one of the cutest looking snacks in terms of the packaging, and I was so glad that it tasted delicious too! It was like caramelised chocolate cocopops that melted on the tongue. 5/5

Monstro Frankenstein Gum

If it wasn’t for the fact that each box comes with a nifty leaflet, I wouldn’t have expected this to be chewing gum, but I would say that it was more like bubble gum as it was quite thick and not very refreshing. Warning – it does stain your teeth a little! I got bored of it after a little bit though so it’s not something I’d go out to buy. 1/5

Terrible Ghost Story Gum

Gosh the girl on the packaging gave me the creeps! I was a bit disappointed when I opened this as it was very small despite how big the packaging was. It wasn’t really that nice either and actually gave me a bit of a headache from all of the chewing. 1/5

Tohato Bokun Habanero Chips

I was really skeptical about this one because I am not good with spice, but I really liked this! It kind of reminds me of BBQ Beef Hula Hoops but with a bit of a kick to it, and this pack became one of my favourites from this box. It’s definitely a share bag as it’s packed with lots of thin hoops (or you can eat the whole thing to yourself while watching rocky horror picture show…)  5/5

Toppo Halloween Edition Biscuit Sticks (similar here)

My hubby called these inside out pocky, and I have to agree with them! And we ate the whole pack in a matter of moments. They were so yummy! 3/5

Happy Halloween Umaibo Snack Stick

Okay I reaaaally didn’t like this one. I took one bite and couldn’t eat anymore. It tasted a bit like prawns (maybe prawn cocktail) but I can’t quite put a finger on it. Whatever it was, it wasn’t for me! 1/5

Koala’s March Halloween Biscuits (similar here)

My hubby loved these ones – they are like biscuit pillows filled with chocolate, although I felt like they could’ve been filled with a little bit more of it. It was still yummy though, and very easy to gobble up. 3/5

Shimi Halloween Choco Corn Stars

I shared these with my colleague at work and we both LOVED them. They are like chocolate wafers and I was sad when I reached the bottom of the pack! 4/5

Tohato Caramel Corn Halloween Mini Snack

These were so lovely and sweet! They reminded me of rainbow drops but bigger. What’s nice is that the pack was full of them so I wasn’t greeted by a bag of air when I opened it. 3/5

All in all, I loved how savoury the October “Trick or Treat” the Japan Candy Box was! I am more of a savoury girl than sweet, so this was perfect for me. It really got me out of my comfort zone (especially with the Tohato Bokun Habanero Chips) and I’ve already made a list of ones that I’d like to buy myself.

Giveaway!

Okay, so now for the exciting part… The giveaway! Good luck and I hope you win!
