In the Name of the Moon, Sailor Gyaru!

Hey cuties! How are you today?

It was the International Day of Happiness a few days ago (or weeks, I’m really behind on blogging haha). I didn’t know about it until I read it on Facebook, and strangely enough it was a really good day for me. One of the main things was that my bby Chewiee came over to visit!

We’ve both been really digging into the whole Swankiss look recently, so when she came round we tried it out! I really want to be able to put together some Swankiss-inspired outfits but I’m still really nervous about dressing over-the-top cute ;_; So my outfit wasn’t really Swankiss inspired… I just wanted an excuse to wear my Sailor Moon fleece tehehehe~ Magical Girl Power! Hopefully next time I can put together a more Swankiss inspired coordinate, but today I am Sailor Gyaru!

I really love the way the shop staff at Swankiss incorporate lots of bright colours, especially in their eye makeup. I was starting to get really bored of just wearing shades of brown and blacks all of the time, so for that day I decided to go for blues and pinks tones. I also tried out eye bags! I used to think it was really weird and a bit painful to look out, but now I think it’s super cute!

Time for some selfies! The lighting in my room was so good that day!

We did a little shopping and I treated myself to a new dress that I think looks great with onee gyaru as well as a cute satchel-sorta-bag to go with my outfit! The rest were just some makeup necessities. It’s amazing how much makeup costs o_o Then we headed out to get some ice-cream! I got “Strawberry Blonde”.

After that we just relaxed and then went out for some Chinese food in the evening before she had to go. It was so lovely to just chill out!

I’ve been thinking a lot about my style over the past week or so… Don’t get me wrong, I’ll never leave agejo completely, but I think it’s nice to dabble with new styles and right now I feel a lot more comfortable doing gal make & hair but ditching the brand clothes. I’ll see how this goes!

Alright I guess that’s it for today! Until next Sunday!

Recent Gyaru Meetups!

Hey everyone! How are you today? I was so happy to see a lot of positive reactions from my last post “What Gyaru Means to Me“. It really means a lot that you guys are so supportive, and looking at my old posts reminded me of the early excitement of discovering a new style. When I saw gyaru I knew that I had finally found “me”! I’m so happy that that excitement hasn’t died down! Gyaru is so amazing.

I’ve been dressing in gyaru more recently which is good because while I was at uni I missed out on dolling up quite a lot, especially when I started working… So it was really refreshing! I also went to some meetups this past week.

I was just flicking through my blog the other day to search for some inspiration when I found myself looking at my old livejournal blog. Whilst scrolling my eyes I discovered my very first post where I mentioned gyaru and couldn’t help but noticed the date…

November 2010. 2010.

I just sat there like: holy mother of pandas, that long ago? I still remember my first days of gyaru where I was incredibly cringey and was adamant that a stroke of eyeliner was enough to call myself gal. And boy how wrong I was! Gyaru, as cheesy as it sounds, has changed my life, and so I decided to put together this post on what gyaru means to me!

Lizzie Loves: Gyaru Spring Collections

Hey cutie patootie! How are you today? Oh my gosh I am so so excited for Spring; I went out on a walk the other day and I couldn’t help feeling really happy that it was really beautiful and sunny. It’s still pretty cold but that’s what layering up is for!

I’ve been a little out of touch lately with my “gyaru self” so the other day I spent the whole evening catching up on blogs and looking at new collections. I have to say that Spring is, hands down, the perfect season in terms of clothes right now. Everyone is bringing out their pastel colours and floral prints… I love it!

Here are a few of my favourites; I was just going to write about MA*RS but I’ve fallen in love with other brands like Rady & Liz Lisa!

But let’s start with MA*RS~

Oshare Con!

Posted on

Hey sweetie! How are you today?
I’ve been crazy busy this past week that I’m writing this at the last minute (again). I’m so sorry! I’ll try harder to make this a better blog for you all~ But I’ve been updating my Instagram & FB page a lot recently! I think I might use those as my main two platforms (aside from this one, of course!)

Today I want to talk to you about Oshare Con! It’s pretty much an event for fellow Japanese fashion & lifestyle lovers and it’s organised by my friends Charlotte, Rox & Dominique! I really want to go there so badly but my bank is not in the best condition at the moment ;_;

Another reason I really want to go is that it’s the first Dutch even based around Japanese fashion, ever! It would be so nice to witness this… I really hope that they do it again next year so that I could make it *3*

But what will be happening at Oshare Con? Here’s a video that gives a brief overview:

Pretty exciting right? In case you’re dying to know more, here’s a little breakdown:

Fashion Shows
I’m talking about this first because of my interest in fashion (obv.) but there will be fashion shows for different Japanese street styles! Amongst them are Gyaru, Lolita, Harajuku, V-kei & dansou. There will also be a fashion competition!

To meet your everyday Japanese needs! Clothes, accessories, cute goodies…

Maid Cafe & Tea Party
Need I say more? Please note that you need to sign up in advance for the teaparty!

This event isn’t just for fashion lovers – they have a gameroom where you can join the Super Smash Bro’s Tournament.

Fashion Lectures & Workshops
For the lectures it’s on Gyaru & Lolita, told by experts! However the following workshops include: Shironuri, deco workshop, deco nails workshop, Popin’ Cookin’, parapara and shoji (Japanese chess). If you want to attend the workshops you must sign up online in advance!

Because everyone loves some live music, right?

For more details about Oshare con, please click here! That site will tell you everything you need to know including buying tickets! Eek I’m excited at the thought of it… Japanese fashion is slowly spreading through the West! *3*

So all in all… I’m heartbroken that I’m missing out on this ;_; It’s
my ideal event! D’oh! ;_; Fingers crossed they will do another one next

See you next week my cuties~
