Witch Way to the Pumpkins? Trip to Pumpkins R Us!

YAY, HALLOWEEN! ’tis the season to be spooky and I was so happy to wear my Halloween witch costume (that I bought way back in August) to my trip to Pumpkins R Us. I bounded down the aisles between the heaps of pumpkins of various shapes and sizes, getting the occasional piece of hay stuck to my thigh-high boots, merrily humming the tune “this is Halloween” from the Nightmare Before Christmas. I invited a couple of my close friends with me as they had never been to a pumpkin patch before, and the place was crowded after half an hour of us getting there. The Halloween spirit has really settled in over here in the UK (which was a pleasant surprise)!

Right, the costume; everything I wore was from the wonderful world of eBay (aside from the over-the-knee boots) and my “pumpkin witch costume” was no more than an orange and purple maid costume that I wore with a witches’ hat. I didn’t plan on being a pumpkin witch this year, but I knew that as soon as I saw this pumpkin bag floating around on Pinterest I knew I had to track it down, and I’m so glad that I was able to find it! It’s my cutest Halloween bag yet!

But you can imagine the curious looks I received while I was twirling around, waving my wand, with my friends in tow. People have asked me in the past how I deal with this sort of situation but the truth is that I don’t really mind so much nowadays. I always ask myself the following questions: do I look cute? And am I having fun? If the answer is yes to both then I just brush off what everyone else says. That’s not to say that I don’t care about what others think – I have a problem where I care way too much – but I try not to let it get to me, and I didn’t let it get to me during my time at the pumpkin patch. I just twirled around, picked my pumpkins, took some photos (obviously) and then left. I learnt from last year not to splurge too much on the pumpkins and picked only three: two mediums, and one tiny white one!

About Pumpkins R Us

Address: (As of 2020) Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth, CV8 2LG
Opening hours: 10am – 8pm everyday

How to Get There

As of 2020, Pumpkins R Us are now located at Stoneleigh Park which in my opinion is a lot better location! You would definitely need to drive there as I’m not too sure about public transport options, but it’s quite an easy drive. Plus it’s not too far from Leamington Spa either which is a lovely little city to walk around.

The Halloween festivities carried on at home, where I had decorated our living room so that it was fit for a Halloqueen! Spooky-cute cushions were scattered onto the sofas, skulls ornaments on the shelves, and a Halloween-tree sat in the corner. It was my first ever Halloween tree and I was (and am) so pleased with it. My theme this year was pumpkins to match my costume, and gosh I wished it looked like this all year around. We popped Casper on TV snuggled up with our hot chocolates and nachos.

What are you dressing up as for Halloween this year? Have you been to a pumpkin patch before? I can’t wait to see your costume!

Love,
Lizzie xx
