Blogs to Read this February: Meet My Advertisers!

Please note: The following includes sponsored ads. Read here for more info.

I can’t tell you how happy I am right now to be writing this post; I have finally bitten the bullet and decided to open up an ad package for bloggers! I have been wanting to do this for years and the other day I just took the leap and did it. So I’d like to introduce you to four blogs to read this month and one small biz to check out.

Why Did Blogging Become So Serious?

It was 8pm on a Monday evening (well, yesterday, in fact), and I was trawling through my blog archives, going back to my first year of blogging in 2011. Gosh, it was embarrassing to look at; my posts were filled with emojis, with cringey language like “lawls” instead of lol, and were sometimes no longer than a paragraph. My photos were awful (as were the blog watermarks that were plastered over them) but I was excited to be on this little corner of the internet, and it was evident in my writing. With a twang I realised that I really, really missed those carefree days where I wasn’t serious about blogging. Over the years my blog posts – although mostly cheerful – have become more carefully planned and filled with relevant jargon in order to be noticed in the online world. But back then I really didn’t care about my reach or engagement.

So what happened? Why did blogging become so serious?

Why did blogging become so serious? Thought piece by hellolizziebee

Hello, Lizzie Bee

Hey honey bunny, it’s me, your gal Lizzie. It’s been a while since I first made my introduction post – over 8 years, I think – so an update has been waaaaay overdue. I mean, sure, I blog a lot and talk about myself quite a bit (especially about my self doubts) but I think it’s time to re-introduce myself to you.

So hey, I’m Lizzie Bee, and I’m a gyaru fashion and lifestyle blogger from the UK.

All Things Gyaru Blogging: Questions & Answers

It hit me the other day that in March 2011, I was sat in front of my laptop and writing up my first ever blog post on this blog. Yep, March 2011. These past 8 years have just flown by and gone are the days where I took crap selfies on an equally crap phone, and said things like ‘zomg’ and ‘yesh’ (ew, how embarrassing). And I never thought I’d still be blogging about gyaru!

But the blogging world has changed a lot in those years, too, where more people are doing it as a full-time job (something I never dreamed would happen) and it’s getting a bit more crowded, but in a good way! I recently asked over my insta what you wanted to know about gyaru blogging, and have put them all below. Enjoy!

Did you just say… The Botanist? In Coventry?

Cocktails masterclass at the Botanist, Coventry

I should do this more often,” I think to myself as I chug down a rum and coke, it’s warmth adding a pinch of red to my cheeks as I felt the alcohol sink into my bloodstream. Whelp, here comes Lightweight Lizzie again, but this time I didn’t care. I wasn’t driving, for once, so I could drink as much alcohol as I want (which was only two glasses in the end because of my lightweight-ed-ness). My friend Charlotte had a glass of prosecco – or was it wine? – in her hand, and as soon as we took a lil’ picture for the insta/blog, we carried on observing our friends trying out their hand at a cocktail masterclass at the Botanist in Coventry*.
