How to Start a Gyaru/Jfashion Blog

So you want to start a jfashion blog? Yay! Blogging is great for writing down your thoughts and meeting new people. But, where to start? I faced the very same question when I first found out about blogging and now I’m passing on my knowledge to help you out a little. This article will cover the most frequently asked questions and take you through the blogging process as well as providing you a list of 30 things to blog about (yes, 30).

Gal Blogging is Dead; Long Live Gal Blogging!

I first got into gal/gyaru through blogging on livejournal before taking blogging seriously and migrating to Blogger. I started off just posting some outfit and makeup shots and people would give me advice on my blog on how I could improve…

Three years later I’m still blogging but there seems to be a huge drop in the gaijin gal blogging “market”, as it were. It seems that more and more people prefer posting on other social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr, and I can count all of the active bloggers (that I know of) on one hand. There used to be tons of gaijin gal blogs! Reading and commenting on other gal’s blogs was the only way I could communicate with them, and it was fun!

It’s quite sad to see that gal blogging has been diminishing and it’s because I love reading blogs. I feel that there’s a lot more to blogs than just flicking through someone’s photos on Facebook. Sure, it takes more time to write a post than to upload a few pictures and #hashtag like crazy, but to me it’s just nice to read what was on someone’s mind or what their day was like.

Then again, it’s just so much easier to “like” or comment on someone’s photo than to read a blog post. You don’t have to know the details; if you like the photo then you “like” it, and if you had more time you posted a comment. Simple as. You don’t have to scroll through your blog feed to then read a whole post of what so-and-so did on so-and-so day. You just look at their photos and reblog, like, comment, etc.

I feel that this lacks that kind of “connection”. It’s quite hard to explain but I just find the whole process of actually reading blogs more interesting. I don’t really like adding people I don’t know on Facebook so blogging is a nice way to meet new people without them having to know every personal thing about you. You just post what you want the public to see.

But what can we do about it? Like I said there are a few people left who still blog, and I’m definitely sticking around so don’t think you can get rid of me that easily (hahaha). I was tempted to start vlogging but blogging is really where my heart lies.

I wish there were more people who continued blogging and bring their own flavour to the gal style. I guess that’s why I love reading gal blogs like Sakurina‘s and Chie‘s because they updates theirs so regularly, even if it’s just an outfit post or of their recent buys. If only I could blog as regularly as I used to! Fingers crossed that I have more time for this blog after uni.

So what d’ya think? Please leave a comment below, I would love to hear your views on this!

See Ya’ Later, Alligator

Hey guys! How is your year so far? Are you having a good year so far? (Or is it too early to say that?)

I did, my year has definitely had a great start… And do you want to know why? It’s because SHERLOCK’S BACK IN TOWN, AWH YIH.

As you may already know, I’m a big fan of Sherlock. As soon as I saw Benedict Cumberbatch’s face on the screen I emitted a little fan-girl scream (surprising my housemate) and continued to do so for about ten minutes or so. I was just so happy to see it back on the screen after goodness knows how long.

But I’m going to stop there because I want this blog to be spoiler-free, but those who have watched it… It was amazing, wasn’t it?!

My New Years Eve didn’t, however, feel much like New Years Eve and it’s probably because it as the first time I didn’t see my family nor boyfriend at all. Living away from home does make things difficult, but it only makes me look forward to going home even more! Can’t wait until all of my uni assignments are done. Luckily I was invited to go out to the pub with my housemate and I went out in ane gal, which isn’t what I usually do, so my makeup was very agejo inspired. I was originally going to do cornrows on one side but my hair just ended up being so curly that it looked a bit weird.

I wore my favourite jeans going out, and this belt that I haven’t worn in what feels like ages. I really should do oraora/ane gal a lot more.

So, yes, 2013: the year of many ups and downs and also of being relatively naughty and spending lots of money on MA*RS. That’s all going to change this year! I’ve promised myself to be a Budget Gal and not spend on over £50 a month (including going out to London), and I’ll be referring back to my points system. I guess that’s resolution number one right there! I wasn’t going to do New Years Resolutions this year but it feels kind of weird not doing them so here’s my list!:

1. Improve on my blogging
3. Keep to my gal budget
4. Try out more hairstyles

I’m keeping it really simple this year because otherwise I’d never stick to them. I think I might go into more detail of my goals and inspirations in my next post. What’re your New Years Resolutions? Got many this year?

So that’s all for now! See ya’ later, alligator.

p.s I’m going to be trying new things with each blog post, so please excuse all of the changes being made!

Agejo, Lazy Days & New Look!

Waddya’ think of my new layout? It’s so pretty and sparkly isn’t it?
I thought that I needed a new look to my blog because my old one was, well, old. I love leopard print but I was just getting sick of looking at it and I wanted a fresh new start to mark my change in style. I aimed for the more glamorous and girly appearance because of my love for agejo and one gyaru and I think it turned out pretty well! Did all of my graphics in Illustrator and Photoshop 😀

Speaking of agejo… I was going to have a very lazy day but whilst doing my lash review for Pixie Bunny it changed my mind and I dolled up! I really didn’t expect it; I was hoping to lounge around in my hoodie and leggings all day but it was still nice to put on a bit of makeup.

Here’s my look for the day! You may have already seen some pictures on my last post, but oh well you get to see it again (you lucky thing you).

I actually really like these lashes although find that they do go slightly upwards… Shall have to find a way to fix that! And I would probably need to continuously brush up on lash glue as well but that’s what you get for being a gal I suppose <3

Like I said, I really did want a lazy day so I jumped back into my hoodie and leggings as soon as the review was done. It was so nice and comfy *_* I love this hoodie! It’s incredibly warm but I managed, surprisingly. Just shows how crap British summers are -_-

Now before I go, I want to show you some of my buys! I’ve been trying to save up for the past year and the other day I went shopping and saved a lot of money.

For example: see that top in the photo? It was originally £19.99 from New Look, but because it was in the sales it went down to £9! I saved £10.99! Pretty good huh?

And that bag… Well, New Look sold one like it for £19.99 (they really like that price don’t they?) but I hopped over to Primark and found a similar looking one for… Take a guess… Yep, £8.99 (or something like that). Bonus!

So I think I’ve done really good! I haven’t bought any MA*RS items apart from this gorgeous replica, and because it was a replica it was really cheap (for MA*RS anyway). I hope to continue my gyaru-on-a-budget lifestyle because now I can spend the rest of the money I have on things I really really need.

That’s all for today! Just a little update on what’s going on really. See you next time <3
