How To Be A Gyaru & A Student

gyaru student, how to be gyaru and a student, work

This seems to be one of those most difficult questions that gaijin gals (gyaru) face; how can we still be gal if we go to school/college/uni/work? It is extremely high maintenance, and in some places it’s not acceptable to be caked up in makeup.

Life as a student is… Difficult. I’ve had months where I just slipped on my glasses and grabbed a t-shirt and jeans before heading out of the door. Sometimes I didn’t even bother getting dressed and worked in front of my computer at home with a cup of (relatively strong) coffee next to me. I’m amazed how some people manage to party all night and drink their money away with all the stuff they have to do but I guess they have the time and money for it.

How does gal fit into this busy schedule of mine? I’m not going to lie but I’ve had a lot of difficulty with it and yet I managed to pull through. It’s been two years since I’ve started uni so I decided to write up a little “how-to” post for those going into uni/college/work! Please note that I’m only going to underline the basics, it’s up to you to adapt these to your gal style.

Gyaru Romantic Makeup Tutorial!

Et voila, here is the long-awaited makeup tutorial done by the lovely moi (“makeup tutorial?” “Ah oui”).

I’ve been getting quite a few people asking me to create an eye makeup tutorial so I thought, why not? I had taken these photos quite a while back and didn’t really want them to gather dust, so I neatened the edges and created a picture makeup tutorial. The reason I’ve done a picture one rather than a YouTube video is purely because I really don’t know how to take makeup videos without obscuring part of my eye. I am really amazed at how people do it!

Now that I’ve decided on a day to post, I’m finding it really hard to choose what to post! I still have to create one on my New Years Resolutions, and then I’ve got a gal meet that I went to yesterday to talk about as well.

Kind of makes me think whether or not I should post twice a week but I know that uni work is gonna’ make that really hard to do. Ho hum pigs bum!

Anyway I hope you like this tutorial and find it useful!

I Feel Like A Chameleon; My Gyaru Wardrobe

I’m still not sure where I’m heading style-wise, and when a friend asked which style I would like to go for I replied: I’m a bit of a chameleon when it comes to gyaru; I tend to like and wear all styles.”

And it’s true; I really do like all of the substyles of gyaru that I just can’t stick to one! It’s a bit annoying though because then I’m spending loads of money on different kind of clothes rather than saving up and buying only those that fit the substyle that I’m in. Guess I can’t really help it.

But I need to stop buying clothes! It’s crazy how much I lurk on gyaru sales to find items that I want to get my hands on even though I really shouldn’t be spending. To help myself out a little bit I went along and gathered all of the clothes that I thought were gyaru-suitable and have taken pictures to show y’all

my gyaru wardrobe!

Although most of these are brand items, I have thrown in some non-brand stuff like clothes from New Look, Miss Selfridge etc. Unfortunately I have missed quite a lot of clothes so I think that I shall do another post!

This has kept me motivated in staying gyaru and just trudge on, even through the rough patch that I’m going through.

See ya’ next time I guess!

Last Glimpse of the Sun

Was totally not supposed to post this until tomorrow, but I pressed “publish” instead of “save” *facepalm*. Oh well!

Last week was probably the last week that we actually had pretty nice weather. I still froze my bleedin’ ass off but it was lovely and sunny (was a bitch when I was driving as the sun went in my eyes quite a lot). So I took this chance to doll up because, for some strange reason, I love dolling up when it’s sunny.

Unfortunately it was a bit of a waste dolling up as I was only outside my house for like, 4 hours because of uni but OH WELL I had fun anyway!

I’m really winter-fying my outfits right now because I’m just getting so fed up of wearing slouchy jumpers and jeans and generally being lazy! It’s nice to wear something nice, tehe.

Shirt from Primark, Belt from Julia Boutique (gyaru sales),
tights from Select, shorts from Reveal, boots from Dorothy Perkins
May I say how much I love this belt?

I’m going to start trying out new eye make techniques now because I’m just getting so bored with what I usually do D: So this is probably the last time you see me do this “casual” make! (Apart from my next Gyaru on the Go post, which shall be done relatively soon…)

’tis all for now, folks! Until next time.

Designed a new signature, woop woop! 😀
