new nail + spring himekaji co*de ♪

Hey cutie! 你好小可爱!How are you? ♡ Guess what? I got my nails done!!! I’m so so happy. Nail salons are now open thanks to the ease in restrictions, so I booked to get mine done straight away. I was a bit nervous tbh (*ノ∀`*) but I had an idea of what I wanted in my head so that I was prepared!

I decided to dress up for it because the weather has improved a lot (although it’s still quite cold) so I went for a cute himekaji co*de! I also had my hair cut the other day so my hair is a lot shorter when its curly and tbh… I’m not too sure how I feel about it… Also, I really really wanted to make a good impression but then everything seemed to go wrong! ( ╥ω╥ ) First, I ran out of eyeliner, then I ran out of eyelash glue! I was in such a mad rush but luckily I made it to the nail salon just in time.

But having my nails done really improved my mood! And here they are. Aren’t they so pretty? (ღ˘⌣˘ღ) 他们好漂亮, 我很高兴! Hopefully I can do my nails more often! ♡

Gyaru Nail Art Inspiration for Valentine’s Day

Hands up if you have no idea what to wear for Valentine’s Day? Yep, me neither, but lately I’ve gone back to drooling over endless Instagram feeds of Japanese nail salons and it makes me really want to make mine pretty for the special day (even though I have no idea what to wear). Nails made me feel so complete – especially when it came to gyaru – and since I’ve been so out of touch with it lately I think a set of beautiful, sparkly nails would do the trick! I wish I could just waltz into a salon to get my nails done every week but alas that’s not going to happen.

What I can do, however, is create inspirational mood boards of Valentine’s Day gyaru nails. I love creating mood boards and it’s been a while since I’ve done one so I was eager to do this again. Hopefully it’ll also provide you with that Valentine’s inspiration even if you’re spending the day at home pampering yourself like the queen you are.

Lhouraii’s Nails: Sailor Moon Gyaru Nails Review!

lhouraii false nails, sailor moon, gyaru nails

I’ve finally been able to purchase some false nails and what better than a set of Sailor Moon ones? My outfit itself for Hyper Japan wasn’t particularly exciting so I wanted to jazz it up with accessories, and as soon as I saw it on Lhouraii’s instagram I knew I had to get it. I always feel more gyaru when wearing nails, especially if they’re long and pretty!

Unfortunately I am terrible with false nails so I only wear them for special occasions, and I haven’t had the time to design my own nails lately. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Lhouraii’s nails and a couple of my friend’s have purchased from her before so I thought I’d give it a try. Luckily she offers both long and short versions – all I had to do was send her a little message and she sorted it all out for me.

My Gyaru Nail Journey

gyaru nail art revolution

False nails are one of the coolest things when it comes to gyaru; every time I looked at pictures of gyaru back in the day I marvelled at how amazingly over-the-top they were. I am still in awe of their nails even today, and even though I can’t wear long nails because of work I still do my best to wear some pretty ones for special occasions.

I’m in the middle of gathering inspo for my next set of nails when I thought: why not show my gyaru nail journey? And here we are. It took me ages to find some pics but I managed!

All journey’s start with a pretty crap beginning, and mine was the crappiest of the crap pile. I was so embarrassed to discover this picture from all of those years ago but… I don’t know how I thought this was acceptable back them! They look horrid!

After that I remember that it was posted on gyaru_secrets and that’s when I took the criticism with a locked jaw and worked my butt off to improve. Well, actually, that’s a bit of an exaggeration. I didn’t make nails for a long time afterwards until 2014 when I decided to pick it up again. I spent more time watching tutorials and experimenting on my own nails before making some again. This is where I actually made most of my nails, and I still wear them from time to time!

February 2014. Sad story – these nails were destroyed within a day because I just couldn’t get them off… Luckily I just recycled the design but with different colours

I am still a bit crap (wow I’m saying that word a lot in this post) when it comes to wearing them. I just can’t seem to do anything unless they are super short. But then I remember that short nails can look incredibly cute – check out one of my previous posts where I included pics of short nails {here}.

The moral of the story? Never give up. Keep on going because you will improve, I assure you! Look at where I started! I am glad that I didn’t give up completely after a little bit of criticism, because now I don’t have to spend money on a pretty set of nails.

Until next Sunday!
