Reasons why I love the new EGG magazine (+ mag scans!)

Reasons why I love the new EGG magazine (+ mag scans!)

EGG, gosh, where do I start? There was a public outcry when EGG magazine announced that they were ceasing publication a few years ago, but now – along with a set of new gyaru models – they’ve brought out a new mook (magazine book) for their June 2019 issue. I am so pumped about this issue; not only because it’s EGG, my favourite magazine, but because of how gal all of the models were. The old-school gyaru spirit is back! Here are some other reasons why I love this new issue…

Gyaru: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Gyaru: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When I first started gyaru I had so many questions… So much so that I worried that I was the most annoying person ever! But the gaijin gyaru (non-Japanese gyaru) community is always more than happy to help, and over time I slowly compiled all of the frequently asked questions when it comes to gyaru. I finally gathered enough to put together this post so voila – here’s the Gyaru Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask in the comment box below.

What is the True Meaning of Gyaru?

What is the True Meaning of Gyaru?

What exactly makes you ‘Gyaru’? Is it the clothes, the hair, the makeup… Or the attitude? This has forever been on our minds and one day I found myself chatting to (Jesus) Chris *tehe* on the true meaning of being Gyaru. The conversation blew my mind so I knew I really wanted to interview Chris as part of my ‘Interview with a Gaijin Gyaru’ series to share their insights on what it really means to be Gyaru.

Sleepovers, Cat Cafes and… Manba Gyaru?!

Sleepovers, Cat Cafes and… Manba Gyaru?!

I felt like we had stepped back in time when Chewiee and I found ourselves in our pj’s watching TV and scrolling on our phones. I can clearly remember the first time we had a sleepover back when we were both students, living in/near London, and at the prime of our Gyaru days. I was so relieved to have found someone who was happy just to laze about and relax (as I get really exhausted after spending a whole day shopping in London) and it has been part of our sleepover routine ever since. This time, however, we were going to do something different… For the first time in our lives, we were going to try out manba gyaru!

What ‘Get Wild and Be Sexy’ Means to Me

What ‘Get Wild and Be Sexy’ Means to Me

‘Get wild and be sexy!’ is one of our most famous gyaru taglines, and originated from EGG magazine (a famous gyaru magazine which boomed in the 90s) and was also featured in this parapara video with gyaru goddesses Yumachi, Aina, and Yunkoro. It describes everything a gyaru should be – from our outrageous clothing to our extroverted mannerisms. But I’ve always struggled with the concept of that tagline as I’ve always classed myself as a more introverted gal, so today I’ve done a collab with the wonderful Reila from The Name I Love on what it means to us (I will drop a link to her blog post at the bottom for you to read her POV!)

Gyaru for Beginners: How to Get Started (+ Free Checklist)

Gyaru for Beginners: How to Get Started (+ Free Checklist)

I can’t really remember how I started gyaru, but I made so many mistakes at the beginning! This helped me to grow my gyaru style and even though I think “wow I was such a mess”, I actually treasure those moments because of the amount of love and support I received. If it wasn’t for those who helped guide me on my gyaru journey, I wouldn’t even be here. So now it’s my turn to be here for you! Here’s a lil’ step-by-step guide on how to get started in gyaru fashion.

1 Item 5 Ways: Pink Crop Top

Isn’t this just one of the most exciting times of the year? Winter is over (although some days it doesn’t feel like it) and everyone’s looking forward to the promise of spring and sunny days. I have a huge love for this time of year so for this ‘One Item Five Ways‘ post, I’m focusing on this super cute and fluffy pink crop top that I bought from Missguided (similar here). These outfits would be perfect for spring, especially if you want to go down more of a sweeter route!

Hello, Lizzie Bee

Hello, Lizzie Bee

Hey honey bunny, it’s me, your gal Lizzie. It’s been a while since I first made my introduction post – over 8 years, I think – so an update has been waaaaay overdue. I mean, sure, I blog a lot and talk about myself quite a bit (especially about my self doubts) but I think it’s time to re-introduce myself to you.

So hey, I’m Lizzie Bee, and I’m a gyaru fashion and lifestyle blogger from the UK.

How to Prepare for Your First International Gyaru Meet

How to Prepare for Your First International Gyaru Meet

I remember the first time I went to an international gyaru meet; I went with my gal Chewiee and honestly it was one of my favourite gyaru meets ever. That’s not to say that it was a completely smooth process – about half an hour before we met everyone I had a panic attack in our hotel room. I was just getting so worked up about meeting everyone and fearing that they wouldn’t like me! But it turned out that I didn’t have to worry after all as I had the most amazing time and everyone was so lovely.

Fast forward to now – my gyarusa QueenE have recently announced our big international gyaru meetup, Gyaru Jubilee, that’s happening over here in the U.K. and we’re SO excited for it! We’ve decided to put together a lil’ list of advice for first-timers because going to your first international gyaru meet can be a bit daunting, especially if you’re a newbie.
