Today I tried… Decora! ☆

hello decome

Hey cutie ♡ 你好小可爱! How are you? I’ve been wanting to publish this post for AGES and now I finally can!!!! Basically my friend Kristina (aka cybr.grl) and I did a lil’ style swap which we then filmed for our YouTube channels. It was really refreshing for me because I don’t really venture outside of gyaru, but the style I tried out was… DECORA!

If you’re unfamiliar with what Decora is, it is another super cute jfashion style that started in the late 90s (similar to gyaru!) and is well-known for the vast amount of accessories they were, as well as their bright clothing. Unlike gyaru, Decora first began in the streets of Harajuku (where gyaru reigned the streets of Shibuya). There isn’t a limit to how many accessories they wear! Here are some pictures to give you a better idea of what Decora is.

Moments with Molang

Lockdown is… Kind of lonely. I keep caving in and buying unnecessary things just so that I have something to look forward to, but I really do miss hanging out with my friends. Luckily Molang sent me a lil’ plushie to keep me company, and while it’s not the same as having bubble tea with my favourites, oh my gosh I love it so much! It is so squishy and soft and I haven’t stopped cuddling it since. I decided to do an outfit inspired by this kawaii character (after having so much fun doing a Cinnamoroll-inspired one last year).

How to Style a Checkered Dress in 5 Ways

I have to admit, I wasn’t a huge fan of checkered dresses. For some reason I thought that they were only reserved for school uniforms but you know that saying that “it’ll feel so right when you’ve found The One”? Well, I found mine hanging on a clothes rail in New Look and I haven’t looked back since. And seeing Cher from Clueless rocking a checkered suit cemented my love for this print! Here’s how to style a checkered dress in 5 different ways!

Disclaimer: The clothes I wear aren’t necessarily new so I have decided not to link where I have bought my clothes because they won’t exist anymore. So take these pics as more of a visual guide on how to put outfits together!

Japanese Fashion Styles I’d Love to Try Out

It seems like a lifetime ago when I first found out about Japanese fashion and just how broad it is; from the elegant Lolita fashion, the cute and colour Fairy Kei, to the wild and sexy Gyaru. Despite this, though, I’ve only really done gyaru fashion (having called myself a proud gyaru for the past ten years) so here are all of the Japanese fashion styles that I’d love to try out one day.

Cinnamoroll-ing Down the Hill

I’ll tell you a secret… I wasn’t always a Hello Kitty Fan *gaspshockhorror*. I went through a phase where I was pretty tired of it because of just how popular Hello Kitty was and I wanted to be “original” (ew) and so I turned my attention to another super cute character – Cinnamoroll. I was still in Sixth Form/college (so high school, for my American readers!) when I fell in love with this lil’ puppy, and so wearing this Cinnamoroll inspired outfit really brought back sweet memories!
