On Being Your Own Gyaru Inspiration

“What even is gyaru?” I hear people say whenever I tell them about this Japanese fashion. Sometimes I brush it off and say, “it’s just this Japanese fashion” and let them divulge at their own pace (usually they then follow it with “where you look like an anime doll?” which is very frustrating). Other times I hop onto Google for some inspiration to show them what I mean but then realise that I don’t look anything like the first few pictures of Black Diamond that pop up… And when I finally found one, the stranger has lost interest by then so I just put my phone away.

Where to Buy Jfashion Outside of Japan

Buying Jfashion items outside of Japan was such a nightmare for me when I first started getting into gyaru. I remember longing for a beautiful Liz Lisa dress only to learn that I couldn’t buy it directly from their website and that I needed some sort of shopping service, and at the time it went straight over my head.

Nowadays it’s all too easy for me to buy Jfashion items – hence why I’m forever broke – but I still get a lot of questions from those wanting to get into it on where I get my clothes/accessories/stationery from. Below I have compiled a list of my absolute favourite jfashion stores (focusing more on small businesses) who I’ve had really good experience with, or who my friends have recommended, just to give you a bit of a helping hand! I’ve split everything up into different fashion sectors as not all of them are just gyaru-focused.

Lizzie’s Adventures! Kitty Café in Nottingham!

Guess who’s back? (Back again?) Yessss I’m back from my break and boy I missed this blog so much! It felt really weird not blogging, but I told myself that I really needed this break and I’m glad that I took some time away from it. I should probably do it more often… But we’ll see how it goes! Today I’m writing about my adventure to a cat café called Kitty Cafe in Nottingham! I’ve always wanted to go to one, so when my boyfriend suggested going on a date there I was so excited. The day was lovely and the sun was shining… It was perfect!

A New Direction? Mermaid Princess!

Life has been quite… Hectic for me lately. I’m going through an emotional roller-coaster at the moment which was triggered by my stupid eye. To cut the story short; my eye went poop and my self-esteem went down. Thank goodness I have really supportive friends! I don’t know what I would do without you peeps.

This has really affected the “gyaru me” because gyaru is very make-up orientated, but I took this chance to look at other Japanese fashion styles. I haven’t pinpointed the one I like yet but I’m loving pastels and mermaids and general magical stuff lately! I went shopping with my friend Amy last weekend and bought this super cute mermaid blouse & pastel pink jeans, and I wore it to her birthday party.

So here goes… A new me! (Maybe?) I’m calling this my mermaid princess look tehe.
