There are times where I wish I could do gyaru at work. The thing is that prioritise sleep over slapping my face on with makeup, which makes those weekends for dolling up even more precious. However I do want to be an everyday gyaru wherever possible so I spent the last few weeks collecting lots of easy hair and makeup tutorials and then I thought… Why not share this collection with my readers?
Below you’ll find a whole set of hair and makeup tutorials that are great for the everyday gyaru/gal! I hope you find them useful!
Hey! How’s your week been so far? The past few weeks of stress and lack of sleep was totally worth it; I managed to finish my projects a couple of weeks early, and I celebrated it by going to a gal meet! It was my friend Jada’s birthday some time ago so we wanted to do a gal meet as well as a birthday meet and it was so much fun. We had some bubble tea, took purikura (something that’s now obligatory for a gal meet in my opinion), and then went off to do some karaoke! It was actually really relaxing because before I knew it I had to head home. I wish I could’ve stayed for longer… Stupid trains and their engineering work.
Please note that although this is a sponsored review, the thoughts and opinions stated are 100% my own.
Sorry for the late post guys! Had such a crazy morning; I woke up with a nice insect bite on my leg, had to doll up, do all of the food shopping, and then do some vacuuming. Such fun things to do on an extremely humid day…
But enough of the complaining, today I shall be reviewing an eyeshadow palette given to me by KKCenterHK. This is a bit overdue as I received the item two weeks ago, but haven’t been able to use it until today.
I’ll skip the postage and packaging because they are always amazing at it, plus I’ve reviewed some of their products which you can view here. So let’s get onto the actual product, shall we?
Now it looks like a black/grey/white palette on the website, but as you can see in the photos there is a slight purple hue to one of the darker colours. Having a base makes the eye shadow a lot easier to see so I would definitely recommend wearing either foundation, BB Cream or a primer before you put on this eyeshadow.
Yet with a base the two lightest colours still aren’t that visible against the skin, so I decided to wear it to investigate further!
I first put a layer of the silver eyeshadow, hoping it to blend nicely with my base colour – which will be the purple one – so that it’ll look like a glittery purple. Then I added the black to the corner of my eyes and onto my lower lash line, blending it with the other colours. Then I dotted some of the white on the inner corner or my eye and below my brows.
I was a bit disappointed that the white didn’t show up much on the skin, but the other colours worked perfectly. I decided to put on some lashes to see how well the eyeshadow would show with that and some eyeliner.
This eyeshadow is actually perfect for the dramatic look now that I have my lashes on! Therefore:
Appearance ★★★
I am unfortunately going to give it only three stars because although the dark colours worked really well, I was quite disappointed that the white one didn’t seem to show up very well on my skin, and the silver… Well, only the glitter was left behind.
Usability (how easy it was to apply) ★★★★
It was really easy to apply but I had to use several layers of the lighter colours in order for it to show on the skin.
Overall ★★★
This palette wasn’t as good as I expected, but then again the purple and the black eyeshadow worked extremely well together! I would love to try out the silver again but maybe without the purple, just to see how well it’ll work for a dark and dramatic look.
To purchase this product simply click here to be redirected to the KKCenterHK website. They also sell a variety of products – and I highly recommend their lashes – so take a look at them too!
I did it again… Pressed “Publish” instead of “Save”.
Woo I’m feeling inspired again!
I think that it’s all thanks to the weather; it’s getting warmer and there are some rays of sunshine… Could spring finally be here? (About time)
That aside, this week I’ve been doing a mixture of relaxing and uni work and, well, I’m feeling really good! I didn’t really have many good nights sleep but I had a long lie in yesterday and I feel so much better! I guess it’s a good thing to have lazy days every once in a while.
My uni work is coming along really well and because of that I feel better when I doll up because I know that it isn’t “wasting valuable design time”. Oui, I do graphic design, and it’s really hard to step away from the computer and not do any design.
I dolled up today because I had to get up early anyways so I had plenty of time to myself and come on, who would want to do uni work from half 7 in the morning? (I actually did that a couple of weeks ago… Was a killer). I originally wanted to wear my new MA*RS dress that Charli bought for me but alas, it’s too cold for it ;_; I can’t wait until summer when I could actually wear my pretty dresses!
Enough talking from me, have some pictures!
I lost my black necklace that I wanted to wear ;_;
This is not a sponsored review! n_n~ Everything is done by me and with only my own opinion on the product.
So whilst I was with my gal friends I spotted this glitter palette in Claire’s. It reminded me of the ones they do at Urban Decay, and so bought it straight away.
I was, however, really disappointed.
Let’s start with the photos first~
So this is what the glitter palette looks like. Looks as if it’s a “dusty” glitter one, doesn’t it? It is in fact one of those creamy eyeshadows, which I didn’t really expect (I touched it a lil’ when I opened it and was surprised because I was expecting it to be a powder eyeshadow). The colours are really pretty, especially the blue one next to the black~ Something that attracted me to the palette in the first place.
Let’s go for a close up picture so that we could see the eyeshadow a lil’ more clearly~
So yes, the colours are very pretty, but do they show up on the skin well? Instead of putting it on my eyelids and going through the process of taking it off everytime, I put some swipes on my hand instead.
It was very hard to make the eyeshadows visible, and I had to do a couple of layers each to actually make them show up on my skin. And even after that they don’t show up very well, especially the silver. The glitter however does show up, and the black and blue shades seems to be doing okay.
Even though I got some poor results from the eyeshadows actually showing up on the skin I still carried on because I wanted to test how long they’ll last. Instead of walking around with eyeshadow on my hand for a couple of hours I just grabbed a tissue and wiped them a lil’. All of them apart from the black faded away, leaving behind some areas of glitter where they used to be.
So if you want to rub your eyes whilst weairng this, maybe you shouldn’t. Actually, if you’re wearing makeup at all you shouldn’t rub your eyes just in case you hurt them~
Although I have to say that this test was a bit unfair because I had rubbed the eyeshadow. All eyeshadows would come off after this, so I decided to test it by wearing the black shade on my eyelids.
Tada! This is what it’ll look like when applied to the eyelid. As you can see, even the black doesn’t come up very well, and this was even after several layers! The glitter definitely shows, but not the colour. It creates an interesting gradient though which might be useful if you wanted to use this on top of another eyeshadow.
This is what the eyeshadow looks like when I have my falsies on. It does look alright, but not as great as I expected it to be. But at least it shows up!
So how much eyeshadow did I actually use for this eye?
This much.
See? It’s nearly half of the eyeshadow! And that’s only for my first time (even if I did use a lil’ bit on my hand).
What the applicator brush looks like after attacking the eyeshadow.
So what are the final results of this eyeshadow palette from Claire’s?

Overall ♥
Overall, I didn’t really like this palette much even though the colours are really pretty. If it had been a powder eyeshadow then maybe it would’ve come up more when applied. The amount of eyeshadow in the palette is very low, although that was to be expected because of the price. Even though the eyeshadow didn’t really come up very well, it did last even after a couple of hours. So it is very good if you want to wear it for a whole day; you just need to pile on the eyeshadow (and by then it might run out and you’d have to buy a new palette!)
What I’d say is that this palette would be put to better use if you used another eyeshadow as a base, and used the glitter on this one to create an interesting effect.
Other than that, I have another eyeshadow palette but of powder which performed far better than their creme ones. So they do do decent eyeshadows, it’s just this series isn’t as great (in my opinion). They are particularly good if you want to buy cheap eyeshadows but of a decent quality ^^
