I remember the excitement building as I stood grasping onto the train handles, counting down the stops on the Yamanote line to Shibuya. I have been waiting for this moment ever since I found out about gyaru – it is the birthplace of gyaru after all, and I couldn’t wait to be walking along Shibuya crossing in front of my beloved Shibuya 109. After we stepped off at Shibuya station I whizzed straight to see Hachiko, the world’s most loyal dog! The story about how he waited for his master years after his death at Shibuya station is one of my favourites, and struck several heartstrings when I finally saw the statue in person.
And then it was time to join the crowd of people at Shibuya crossing to walk towards the beacon of all things gyaru – Shibuya 109. And I was extremely disappointed.
I thought it was time to do another one of these posts as I’ve been very naughty recently and bought some new clothes! I know I probably shouldn’t have but I just couldn’t resist. I don’t regret it though, which is probably even worse…
This time I’ll be creating 5 outfits with one of my favourite MA*RS skirts! Agejo is my favourite style, and I want to make it wearable for all seasons, but this time I’m just focusing on summer outfits. So here goes!
I went to Hyper Japan for the first time last weekend! My friends have always told me that I should go, so one day I caved and decided to check it out. I saw that they had a fashion show so I applied to represent agejo, and they accepted me! I was so happy.
It was a lovely afternoon; I had just taken some photos for my beauty review (which you can see in my previous post) and was about to take off my makeup and hibernate in bed when I got a text Chewiee asking if I could meet up with her in London. My friend Amber was free and wanted to see me! She had been in England for about a week now but unfortunately I wasn’t able to meet her because of work… So I was really happy that I had the chance to meet her before she flew back home! I quickly caught the next train to London and before I knew it I was sipping bubble tea and waiting for them all to arrive.
I had a super fun week this week, you wanna’ know why? Because it was my birthday! Obviously not for the whole week but you get my meaning. It was the first time in a while that I actually had a “party” because for the past few years I’ve either been abroad or my friends were working etc, so I was really looking forward to just hanging out and having fun on my birthday.
My “pre-birthday” event was a barbecue at my house, and oh my gosh it was such a fun evening! I only had a few close friends and my boyfriend, so it was really cosy. I had so much food that I felt like I was having a food baby! I’m drooling at the thought of the delicious barbecued piri chicken… Yum.
I couldn’t decide whether to do agejo or himekaji so for my “pre-birthday” event I went for a really soft himekaji look, and for my birthday I wore agejo. I’m falling in love with Liz Lisa even more everyday (it still can’t beat MA*RS, but it’s getting there). This dress was, once again, sponsored by the wonderful Kawaii Gyaru Shop who I would totally recommend 100%. I noticed that they had some gorgeous My Melody bags as well to all those who are interested in sweet styles such as hime! ♡ Enter the code LIZBEE to get a discount! ♡
After we were all filled to the brim with delicious food my mum brought out the cake and everyone sang happy birthday! It was such a pretty cake that I almost didn’t want to eat it, but cake is cake after all and I couldn’t resist.
My family and friends took the opportune moment to bombard me with those party poppers, so this was my hairstyle over the next few eyes. Sexy, right?
My Actual Birthday…
I actually relaxed a lot more on my actual birthday-day but nevertheless I dressed up in my favourite MA*RS set. I couldn’t decide whether to have my hair up or down but in the evening when I went out for a meal I had it down.
Now I’m not usually the type to display all of my presents because I don’t really see the big deal of it, but I can’t help but show off this little beauty that my boyfriend bought for me! I tried not to take too many pictures with it because the film is super expensive.
So in the evening I went out for a meal with my friends to this new Chinese restaurant which was quite local, and I took advantage of my Chinese-speaking skills and spoke Chinese to the waiters. You should’ve seen their faces! They were so surprised! It took them a while to get used to it haha. I ordered some beef noodle soup and oh my gosh it was amazing!
All of these photos were taken by one of my friends~
Blowing out the candles of my 2nd birthday cake, tehehe
I don’t know what my boyfriend was doing but… He was funny 😛
And that was it for my “birthday” celebrations! I really enjoyed spending time with my family and friends and I felt so girly wearing himekaji & sweet agejo. Hopefully I can do more of these two styles before it gets too cold!
I mentioned in my last post that I took a much-deserved break from uni which was a nice change since I’ve been spending so much time studying around Christmas. As I reward I treated myself to quite a fair amount this month to last me until summer so yeah, I’m feeling very positive at the moment (and stupid for spending money when I shouldn’t). I posted a picture of my haul on my facebook page.
I admit that I felt pretty lonely on Valentines Day because I wasn’t able to spend it with my boyfriend but we arranged to spend a whole day together when I was visiting my home town. This was what I wore: a MA*RS hoodie paired with New Lookjeans, and some heels from Dorothy Perkins. I wear these heels all of the time when I go out because they are at the perfect height for me (as I’ve got awkward feet). I wore my GOLDS Infinity top underneath but zipped my hoodie up so that I had a day and a night outfit! The hoodie was super cozy in this chilly winter that Britain seems to be trapped in so I can definitely see myself hibernating in it until summer.
I was going to leave my blog at that but then I realised… Wait, this isn’t like me… I normally talk quite a lot! So on with the rambling!
Our “Valentines” date was absolutely lovely, I had such a good time. I must admit that I did feel like Barbie when I trotted into Chiquitos – a near Mexican Restaurant that opened up in town – because everyone else was wearing jeans and t-shirts and then there’s me with my extremely pink, fluffy hoodie with cat ears and heels. Whoops. Oh well, my motto is that it’s better to be too glamorous than a slob (hahaha).

I don’t know what that black dot on my eye is but check out my new hat! Hahaha
Me & the boyf as we wait for our food!
I wish I did like Mexican food, I really do, but I felt that there was an overpowering amount of cheese in my dishes. At least I tried it though! Besides, it might’ve been my dishes rather than Mexican food as a whole… I’ll show you what I ordered anyway.
Deep-friend potato skins filled with cheese, salsa and sweetcorn
Chicken wrap filled with Mexican rice, lettuce, cheese and this sauce I can’t remember
Right I can tell that you’re almost drooling onto your lap so I’ll take it as my cue to leave. Until next time! I hope you all have a lovely rest of the weekend xx
