Am I Too Old For Gyaru & Jfashion?

carefree gaijin gyaru

The other day it suddenly hit me that I was going to turn 30 in a few years. 30. To me, my thirties would mean settling down in my own home, having a stable job and scariest of all… Children. I am not emotionally nor financially stable for any of that yet, and can’t even look after myself properly let another a mini version of myself. It’s absolutely terrifying, especially when it means that I would probably be too old for gyaru.

Dear Younger Me

Dear Younger Me,
Life is fleeting. You’ll lose people you thought were invincible and it’s going to hurt. Bad. It’ll hurt so much that you can’t breathe but you can survive this. Smother those who mean the most to you with love and do all that you can to make them happy. That person you dismissed as annoying or irritating because they’re always there is perhaps one of the most important people in the world.

Leaving Agejo Gyaru? New Adventures!

Hey guys! How’s it going?

You may have been wondering why I haven’t worn agejo lately… In truth, it’s because I’ve gone completely off it. It’s really sad because I’ve spent so much money on gorgeous MA*RS items and now I can’t even think about wearing them anymore ;_; They’re just hanging uselessly in my wardrobe. I just wore agejo so much that I felt tired of wearing it, and it’s hard to create different outfits of the same item. I know that I do have a lot – and I mean a lot – of MA*RS to wear but everything just looked so similar so it didn’t really feel like it.

I’m not too sure what to do about it so for now I’m just going to leave it. I don’t think I can bear selling anything, but who knows?

Right now my heart has been captured by hime kaji and equally cute styles. I’m starting to love hime gyaru again, but I don’t think I can go as far as wearing lots of La Pafait or Jesus Diamante. I’ve gathered lots of inspirational pictures on my tumblr but it’s hard to do it without having any hime kaji/gyaru items! However, I’ve told myself not to spend too much on it otherwise it’ll just be like agejo and MA*RS all over again, and I don’t think my bank I can handle it.

But it’s been hard not to scroll through sites and drool over any hime-inspired items, so I thought that the best way to help me out is to create a wishlist! 😀

Sweet Bow Summer Dress / Sweet Chiffon V-Neck High-Waisted Dress / Princess Style Heels / Light Pink Bling Bow Necklace / Hime Dream Bows on Hair Clip / Sweet Denim Lace Playsuit / Lacy Kitty – Pink / Strap Skirt / Sweet Doll-Collar Blouse /

I actually tried out hime kaji a couple of times before reaching this decision~ Here are my latest hime
kaji looks! What do you think?

However, I find that hime kaji can look a bit boring sometimes so I’m going to use the same method as I did for agejo and make it dramatic! Big hair and bold eye makeup! I might even mix it with some elements of agejo like stockings and lots of bling… I could perhaps mix in hime gyaru too >_> I collected some images for inspiration.

… So maybe there are quite a lot of hime gyaru influences

I don’t know where exactly this will take me but I’m excited; I’ve gone back to my roots and my old interests, and it’s turning out to be a new adventure <3

Hope you guys have a lovely rest of the weekend~

Gal Blogging is Dead; Long Live Gal Blogging!

I first got into gal/gyaru through blogging on livejournal before taking blogging seriously and migrating to Blogger. I started off just posting some outfit and makeup shots and people would give me advice on my blog on how I could improve…

Three years later I’m still blogging but there seems to be a huge drop in the gaijin gal blogging “market”, as it were. It seems that more and more people prefer posting on other social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr, and I can count all of the active bloggers (that I know of) on one hand. There used to be tons of gaijin gal blogs! Reading and commenting on other gal’s blogs was the only way I could communicate with them, and it was fun!

It’s quite sad to see that gal blogging has been diminishing and it’s because I love reading blogs. I feel that there’s a lot more to blogs than just flicking through someone’s photos on Facebook. Sure, it takes more time to write a post than to upload a few pictures and #hashtag like crazy, but to me it’s just nice to read what was on someone’s mind or what their day was like.

Then again, it’s just so much easier to “like” or comment on someone’s photo than to read a blog post. You don’t have to know the details; if you like the photo then you “like” it, and if you had more time you posted a comment. Simple as. You don’t have to scroll through your blog feed to then read a whole post of what so-and-so did on so-and-so day. You just look at their photos and reblog, like, comment, etc.

I feel that this lacks that kind of “connection”. It’s quite hard to explain but I just find the whole process of actually reading blogs more interesting. I don’t really like adding people I don’t know on Facebook so blogging is a nice way to meet new people without them having to know every personal thing about you. You just post what you want the public to see.

But what can we do about it? Like I said there are a few people left who still blog, and I’m definitely sticking around so don’t think you can get rid of me that easily (hahaha). I was tempted to start vlogging but blogging is really where my heart lies.

I wish there were more people who continued blogging and bring their own flavour to the gal style. I guess that’s why I love reading gal blogs like Sakurina‘s and Chie‘s because they updates theirs so regularly, even if it’s just an outfit post or of their recent buys. If only I could blog as regularly as I used to! Fingers crossed that I have more time for this blog after uni.

So what d’ya think? Please leave a comment below, I would love to hear your views on this!
