I have to admit, I wasn’t a huge fan of checkered dresses. For some reason I thought that they were only reserved for school uniforms but you know that saying that “it’ll feel so right when you’ve found The One”? Well, I found mine hanging on a clothes rail in New Look and I haven’t looked back since. And seeing Cher from Clueless rocking a checkered suit cemented my love for this print! Here’s how to style a checkered dress in 5 different ways!
Disclaimer: The clothes I wear aren’t necessarily new so I have decided not to link where I have bought my clothes because they won’t exist anymore. So take these pics as more of a visual guide on how to put outfits together!
Mean Girls Go to Afternoon Tea
Afternoon tea is my favourite pastime, so I love creating outfits that would be good for when I go and this one is perfect. The heels make it classy and the jumper makes it more casual, although I am tempted to swap out the clutch bag for a cream handbag instead. I was actually inspired by one of Gretchen Wieners’ main outfits in Mean Girls when creating this and – yikes I’m gonna’ say it – it’s so fetch!
Biker Chic
Something a lil’ bit more grungy which I’ll dub the “biker chic” – which goes to show just how versatile this dress is! I can just imagine wearing this with rokku gyaru makeup and dark lippy, and the rilakkuma keyring adds a hint of kawaii (cuteness) to the overall outfit.
Of Unicorns and Kitty Cats
An outfit perfect for sunny days and picnics in the park! I bought these super cute pink earrings last year from Angel Baby Boutique on insta/etsy, and I absolutely adore them so just had to include them in this outfit. I think this one is the cutest outfit of them all, and the unicorn necklace I got from Roxie Sweetheart adds a touch of magic.
Witch Bitch
Something wicked this way comes, and I conjured this outfit when I went for afternoon tea last year during the last few days of summer (which is when I’m usually in the Halloween mood). This bag from Killstar is one of my all-time favourites but I don’t use it anywhere near enough as I should, so had to slip it into this set somehow.
Kawaii Girl
I wore something similar to this outfit when I went to visit Nini in Bordeaux, and it’s my favourite outfit from this set! I dug out my glittery pink bag that I bought from Dreamy Bows a few years back to give it that extra kawaii touch, as well as some frilly ankle socks and white wedges. I opted for a simple silver necklace for that subtle touch.
Which one is your favourite?
Love,
Lizzie xx
