Hogwarts in the Snow & 5 Reasons Why I Love Harry Potter

Hogwarts express, christmas, hogwarts castle, hogwarts train

I did the thing – I ticked off a major item off my bucket list by going to Warner Bros Studios Tour during the Hogwarts in the Snow period for Christmas. And boy could I tell you just how exciting it was! I had been planning this moment for months since the very first time I went but found myself on the day feeling quite a little bit clueless. And the most important questions? What the hell was I going to wear and how much my bank is going to suffer afterwards.

Great Hall, Christmas

quidditch uniforms

quidditch

wand duel with death eater

forbidden forest

forbidden forest spiders

butterbeer, butterbeer ice cream

privet drive

hogwarts in the snow

I ended up wearing my Harry Potter Christmas jumper that I got from Boohoo all of those many years ago, and my bank didn’t actually suffer as much as I thought as it took all of my power to stop myself from buying the Ravenclaw sweater I was eyeing up (it was £75 which is quite a lot of money to me). The tour itself was just as magical as it was the first time, and there were a few things added to it like more interactive workshops and the Forbidden Forest. I won’t go into detail as I don’t want to spoil it for you but all I can say is go during the day, off-peak, and take your time. I felt a bit rushed because there were so many people at the exclusive after-hours event and the lighting wasn’t as good as it would’ve been during the day. But nevertheless I did have lots of fun!

As I was going around the tour I couldn’t help but notice the different age groups – everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves (myself included) from little toddlers to elderly ladies. I even saw one baby dressed in a Harry Potter onesie and it was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! It’s one of the things I love about Harry Potter in that it’s for all ages, and here are a few other things that I love about it:

01 | It has such a diverse character pool

There are so many different types of people in Harry Potter and they’re endlessly flawed. I think that Harry is a bit of an asshole but then I would’ve hated it if he wasn’t so stupid at some points in the series. I even liked the way that friendships aren’t exactly perfect and that people do fall out from time to time (especially regarding the trio) and it shows that it’s natural to not agree to everything your friends think.

02 | It taught me to accept the fact that I’m a teacher’s pet

I hated being labelled as a teacher’s pet but then Hermione Granger came into my life and it made me accept the fact that it’s okay to love to study. My hard work did pay off in the end and (even though it was years later) I ditched my “friends” who made me feel like a weirdo for wanting to learn, and I found another friendship group who were equally knowledge-thirsty.

03 | Widespread fanbase = more friends

It isn’t difficult to find another Potterhead, and there’s so much to talk about when you meet someone who loves Harry Potter! What house are you in? Who’s your favourite professor? And what did you think of that Dumbledore scene “he said calmly”. There are fans all of different ages and from different countries, and I feel like even if you don’t like Harry Potter you would know about it.

04 | The vast amount of amazing quotes

My favourite quote hands-down has got to be one from my queen Hermione Granger: “Now, if you two don’t mind, I’m going to bed before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed – or worse, expelled” but I also love how sassy Harry Potter can be throughout the series e.g. “No need to call me sir, professor”. And you can’t forget all of the amazing lines from Dumbledore!

05 | It taught me that life isn’t perfect, but that’s perfectly okay

Everyone is flawed and not everything goes to plan, but you just got to keep going.

And that’s all for today! Have you been to the Warner Bros Studio Tour? Are you a Potter fan? What house are you in? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
