Gyaru Outfit Diaries: A Winter Holiday in Germany

I never stressed so much as I did in the weeks prior to going on holiday to Bavaria, Germany. “How do I even create a cute winter outfit? Am I going to be warm enough?? What if I forgot something???” were frequent questions floating around my head. Luckily I had gathered some photos for inspiration, then it was just a case of buying all of the essentials and making sure that my outfits were both cosy and cute (not to mention warm enough for super cold temperatures!) Here are some of the outfits that I wore during my winter holiday.

Please note: to give you a general idea, the temperature was around -5 to 2 degrees Celsius. We only had one day where it reached a maximum of 5 degrees!

Christmas Cheer

I brought out my Christmas jumper when we went to the beautiful town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. It is easily my favourite outfit this holiday, but I had to rush doing my hair as we left pretty early in the morning. I paired the jumper with a black velvet skirt, and layered up thermal tights with patterned tights to make the outfit even cuter! We had a wonderful time in this little town, and visited the Christmas museum, Christmas Market and walked along the wall that encircled the old town.

Iconic

I was so glad that I packed this jumper as it ended up being one of the key items of my winter holiday outfits, and one of the times I wore it was for when we went to Linderhof Palace. We drove through a part of Austria to get there and passed by this beautiful lake, Plansee, which we stopped off at to take pictures of on the way back. I also had the chance to wear the new “Iconic” belt I got from ASOS – although I wish I had a better photo of it! – which perfectly described the view of the lake. Please note that I did wear a coat after taking these photos, though!

Up to Snow Good

We wanted to take a cable car up to one of the mountain peaks but, typically, they were all closed until the week after we landed back home in the UK. The restaurant at the top, Buchenberg Alm, however, was still open so we took a treacherous drive up and I breathed a sigh of relief when we got to the top. It was all worth it though – the view was breathtaking! I was so glad I wore this coat, and jazzed up my outfit with some fluffy toppers that I wore on top of my walking boots.

Castle in the Sky

It was incredibly foggy when we arrived at the bottom of Neuschwanstein Castle, which dampened my spirits slightly as it was one of the places I was really looking forward to seeing. Nevertheless it was still amazing to see the whole mountain covered in mist as it made it slightly haunting, and only made me stand out even more as I wore my red jumper and blue jeans (not to mention thousands of layers underneath). I then wore my cream coat on top of it.

Santa Paws

I wore my snow leopard jumper again when we went to see the Christmas markets in Munich, but switched it up with a velvet black skirt and red hat. I had such a magical time and I finally ticked off something from my travel bucket list – to go to a Christmas Market in Germany.

You’re the Onee One for Me

I originally wasn’t going to dress up for the day we headed over to see the Deutches Museum (and later near Marienplatz and Odeonplatz), but I found myself doing “natural” makeup which then lead to me doing a full face in onee gyaru style. I feel like onee is just perfect for Winter, and this outfit kept me really cosy as it was -5 degrees Celsius when we headed out!

And there we have it! I did recycle a couple of these outfits from time to time to save space in my suitcase and I can’t wait to come up with some more ideas in the next few weeks.

Which out of these winter holiday outfits is your favourite?

Love,
Lizzie xx
